Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad Eye Shadow- 023 Beauty Spells Review

How was diwali guys? I know its too late to ask the question, but I am still in the holiday hangover! Those precious four days for me were- eat, sleep, shop and repeat :p

Also there’s another hangover on me these days- the ‘humsafar’ hangover. To our Pakistani friends here, you girls are blessed to have such genuine shows on your idiot boxes. I am totally loving your characters these days… they are so original! I have never watched TV much except big boss, but zindagi is one channel which runs on my tv continuously after I am home from work. And due to that I’ve picked up some tehzeeb wale urdu words like ‘masla’, ‘mohabbat’, ‘shukriya’ etc etc. now before I start swooning over Fawad Khan let me start with the review.

This eye shadow quad from rimmel was a total impulsive buy. I didn’t even swatch the shades on the counter. I just saw two shades of mauve, one glittery and another matte and my heart said ‘take it’ you definitely need it.

PRICE: Rs. 550 for 4.2 g

PACKAGING: The quad comes in a square palette with four shadows put into triangles. It’s a simple and neat packaging which closes snugly and thus can be easily carried along.

My take on Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad Eye Shadow- 023 Beauty Spells:

Being a smokey eye lover I tend to gravitate towards mauve and purple eyeshadows. So when I saw this quad which had additional silver and black colours I had to give it a try.

I find the color selection for this palette quite suitable.

The four colors provided are-

1. Purplish-mauve shade with loads of glitter
2. Matte mauve with sheen
3. Dusty silver and
4. Glittery black

I love the colors in this palette but the texture of these is a major downfall. they are hard, chalky and a pain to blend. Though I like the texture of mauve shade, its soft and blends well but the rest three of them are a put off. I was disappointed about the fall-out of the purple and silver shade! First of all the glitter was all over the pan and when I applied on my lids the glitter covered my lashes and under eye badly. I was literally furious! Imagine you’re all done with the base make-up and the glitter ruins it all….. irritating isn’t it? moreover the glitter is gritty…. It wont come off with cotton and makeup remover!

Talking about the pigmentation, again a downer! The purple and silver shade just transfers glitter even after multiple swipes. The black shadow again is very low in pigmentation and difficult to build up. Only the mauve shade is a savior in this palette. But this shade wont show up on darker skin tones.

The staying power of mauve shade is pretty well. Since it’s a nice everyday office shade, I wear it to hospital and it lasts me 4-5 hours on an average without primer. I can’t talk about the rest because I am not using them!

Pros of Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad Eye Shadow- 023 Beauty Spells:

• The mauve shade. Its creamy, blends well and stays on for a fair amount of time.

Cons of Rimmel Glam Eyes Quad Eye Shadow- 023 Beauty Spells:

• The irritating fall out.
• The glitter is gritty and chalky
• Bad pigmentation
• Does not blends well
• Totally not worth the price tag
• Useless applicator

DO I RECOMMEND?

I would never recommend this palette to anyone! 550 bucks for such bad quality? i believe even the local brands can provide much better quality in quarter the price.

WILL I BUY IT AGAIN?

Not even in my wildest dreams! I like the mauve color a lot but I just cannot stand the rest three colors. This pan is my first eye shadow buy from rimmel and I don’t think there would be any more in future. I’ll stick to their lipsticks and glosses.
