Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Heather Shimmer
Hi IMBB Gang, I am constantly surprised when I hear people telling how they bought something and then found that it was a mistake and waste of money and then suddenly discovered that it’s wonderful. This had never happened to me, whenever I buy things which I end up disliking, I never like them again! So, I was pleasantly surprised when this happened to me with an impulse purchase.
I got Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick from Ebay in Heather Shimmer on sale (I forgot the exact amount, but it was less than 200), but it retails in Boots for around 5 pounds for 4 gms. I have found this in Coollifeshop for around 900 bucks.

About the Shade Heather Shimmer:
Heather Shimmer is one of the signature shades of Rimmel. Kate Moss, the brand ambassador mentions that it was her favorite lipstick (probably in her teens, don’t think Kate is still using a drug-store brand!) Again, when I checked net for reviews, I found that someone had given this 4.2 and found several nice reviews for this and decided to go for it.
The first time I tried it on, I was like, “okay, that is money down the drain”. I was on a coral-peach kick that time and also I thought it’s a brownish wine shade, but it went very sheer on single swiping. So overall, I was highly disappointed.
Then after 2-3 weeks, I accidentally picked this one for a trip and I had to use it the whole day and that changed my mind. After swiping it 2-3 times, I found that it gave me such a nice MLBB shade. I cannot exactly describe this color, as I think it will be different on different lips, but on mine, it came out as a brownish-pinkish-mauvish color. It has slight shimmers, which is the one serious bad thing I could say about this as I would have preferred such a nice MLBB shade to be without shimmers.
The color shown below is after 3 swipes.
Also, it is not exactly “lasting finish.” I found that I had to re-apply it whenever I ate something. I would say its average staying power is around 2-3 hours and if I don’t eat or if I stay in a/c, then around 4-5 hours. I have heard that staying power of lipsticks vary based on climate, so may be this is “lasting finish” in London!
Pros of Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick
- Nice MLBB shade, Kate Moss recommended.
- Not very expensive.
- Nicely moisturizing, so you can even skip lip balm.
- Can be built up starting from sheer (1 swipe – nude and shimmer] to MLBB (3 swips – shimmer less evident).
- 4 gms is decent enough for the price.
- Decent staying power – 3 hours is decent for a drug store brand in my opinion.
- It doesn’t settle in fine lines and when it fades, leaves some color and a layer of shimmer, which doesn’t leave lips bare.
Cons of Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick
- Cheap cheap packaging!!!! You would expect something better from a London brand!
- No list of ingredients, no expiry date, no manufacturing date, no cover for the lipstick – Come on Rimmel, perk up your packaging, people are becoming more conscious about what they use!!!!!!!
- “Lasting finish for 8 hours” doesn’t happen.
- Not available in India.

Not bad,but it really isn’t the sort of lippy I’d wear. :nono: Now if this were a brite lippy… :dumb: :dumb: I’d grab at it.

This was a surprise MLBB find, i now use it in office as the shimmer is not very evident..
its a nice plummy color..quite pigmented too :yes: I too am just like you..either i like the product or dont..no middle way in 🙂 but somehow even if i dont like the product i try to make the best possible use out of it 🙂
I am usually an unlucky buyer Parita, i either buy stuff tat is very good or very bad [so far 65% has been very bad :waaa: ] for me and i end up chuckin em out..
