Hello everyone! 😀
It’s my first post on IMBB so I am very very very excited. So, without wasting anytime let’s get straight to the product. I will be reviewing an eye shadow stick from Rimmel London.
Product Description in website:
High impact color precision, tip applicator, Ultra soft formula glides on smoothly, High-shine and luminous finish. The Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Crayons come in five different shades, Bulletproof Beige (#002), Bad Girl Bronze (#003), Blackmail (#008). Paranoid Purple (#006) and Tempting Turquoise (#005).
Price: Rs.415 for 3.25gm.
It is packaged in a normal sharp-enable crayon stick with a bullet tip locked in a transparent plastic cap. It’s good that the cap is transparent; the shade can be properly seen from there.
My experiences with Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick 008 Blackmail
Now, let me tell you that I have huge ugly dark circles so I always opt for darker eye makeup which doesn’t make me look like a cancer-patient. So, Kohls, black eye shadows, dark gel eyeliners have always been in my stash and I always have this hunger of collecting kohls and eyeliners 😀 The other day when I was going through the Rimmel counter, I came across this fat dark kohl-type eye shadow stick and I immediately picked up the dark black color (I hate to be the impulsive buyer when it comes to kohls and black eye shadow but then sometimes it’s perfect :P) .
The texture of this pencil is quite creamy to easily blend for smudgy looks. I found the texture resembles a lot with the Maybelline gel liner. The texture is perfectly matte without any hint of shimmer (I hate shimmers :P). The color is super opaque and jet black in single swipe. The pigmentation resembles my Kohl from Amway, just a bit creamy for blending(which I really love). The most important and amazing thing is, primer or no-primer doesn’t matter at all. You can see it in the swatches itself that primer hardly matters for the color to show or even for staying power. It was absolutely intact in my semi dry eyes as an eye shadow throughout my college hours (6:30am – 12noon) without creasing and even when I came back and took a shower, took a short nap but still it hardly smudged! :happydance:
In short, its smudge proof and water proof :yay: It doesn’t feel heavy on eyes nor has any irritating effect or whacky smell at all. Generally, I do the makeup in a hurry but smudging also doesn’t require much time for it. I even tried applying it on my waterline; though it didn’t irritated my eyes but it didn’t had long lasting effect on my waterline. Sharpening the product is also fuzz free as there’s hardly any product wastage but make sure you do it a bit slowly without applying any pressure (I use Lakme sharpener) 😛 Now, removing this from my eyes are real pain. But isn’t it what we want, smudge free long lasting, dark eye shadow? 😛 I generally have to use coconut oil because all the eye makeup removers are total fail for this product.
Pros of Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick 008 Blackmail:
1. Great colour payoff in single swipe. Primer hardly makes a difference as the jet black shows up properly without primer or base. In short, superb pigmentation.
2. Smudge free and water proof completely
3. Completely matte and no shimmer. (For some beauties, no-shimmer can be a con though.)
4. Creamy and easily blend able. Perfect for dramatic eye makeup or Smokey eyes.
5. Long lasting effect on eyes both as eye shadow and eyeliner.
6. Price is comparatively affordable than other similar products like Mac, Lakme, etc.
7. Sharpening doesn’t cause much wastage.
Cons of Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick 008 Blackmail
1. Removing the colour is a pain. 😛 now, can I really count that as a con?
2. Availability is an issue. Though I got it easily from the Rimmel counter of South City but my friend faced the availability issue when I recommended her the product.
Do I recommend Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick 008 Blackmail?
Hell yes! It’s a lovely jet black colour perfect for my use.
Will I purchase Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Shadow Stick 008 Blackmail again?
Yes and no, both. I will not buy this particular colour as I am eyeing for the bronze colour because my next target is a Mac product for a black eyeshadow. *finger crossed*
