My Experience with Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour Midnight:
This lipstick’s packaging is a little different. It comes in a frosted tube form with a black cap. The entire lipstick looks like a flower vase. The packaging is compact and has the perfect size to pop in your bag when you’re on-the-go. I also love the fact that it’s a see-through tube.
The applicator looks like a flattened paddle brush and is relatively long and thin. Overall, the packaging is cute. I have to mention here that the packaging of Australia and UK is different from the US packaging. I am not sure why, though.
There are totally 15 eye-catching shades in this collection, ranging from neutrals to pitch black. There is also a unique grey shade in this range. Though there are a lot of unique shades in this collection, there are no nude or neutrals for dusky skin tones. I feel only the darker shades from this line cater to all skin tones. Midnight is a dark vampy purple shade, which is universally flattering, and also works as a perfect fall shade.
The formula of this lippie is amazing. It is mousse-like yet feels a bit runny during application. The formula facilitates the application and makes it easier to spread the product on the lips. This is an incredibly rich and pigmented shade which gives an opaque colour in just one swipe. This lipstick doesn’t dry out the lips and feels mostly comfortable throughout the wear time.
Since this shade is a bit dark, it tends to look a little streaky. Once applied and dried, there is zero transfer from this lipstick. This lipstick doesn’t budge and stays intact even if I consume food and drinks. Since it’s transfer-proof a bit of effort is required to remove it. You need some oil-based wet wipe to remove the product completely.
I have to say I’m very impressed with how long these lipsticks last as they claim to last up to 12 hours. However, while Midnight is very long-wearing it lasts a good 10 hours and not 12. It fades down towards the end of the day, which is when a re-application is needed. But overall, it lasts pretty long!
Super pigmented, vibrant, easy to apply and super long-wearing – these lipsticks are quite good.
