Rishikesh Camp – The Good , The Bad and The Ugly

Rishikesh Trip – The good , the bad and the ugly

THE GOOD

Hey guys I hope everyone is doing great , today I will be writing about my Rishikesh trip which happened pretty long ago but I have sat down now to write about it , Me with 39 other college people and one professor went to the 5 elements camp. It is a camp in the Rishikesh region of Uttrakhand and has a very beautiful scenery which is heightened by the natural way of life . I am a Kumauni so when the people were scaring us about the heights I very easily went up and down the hill 😛

Here we are walking and walking for like 15 minutes to get to the camp from the road , it was not a straight walk though , we had to climb up and down mountains to get there and some people were pretty close to falling :p . People who got there luggage in rolling bags (which they were advised not to get ) they were helped by the people of the camp who took it and got to the cap for them ( nice of them) .

Oh yeah that’s me posing on the bridge which we had to cross to get to the camp

That is the lovely camp , all the nights irritation and anger went out of our heads when we saw the camp , it was so serene and solitary .

This is the view of the other side of the bridge . 🙂 Paweety 🙂

These are the tents which we lived in , me lived on the 5th tent from the right 😀 . you see those green boxes at the back of the bright white tent ? those are the toilets 😛

It was SUPER sunny and there was sand everywhere (Duh it’s a beach .. Sort off ;p) . The tents are very roomy and you also have the facility of zipping it all up and sleep away from the sun and the sand but the heat will not leave you.

Originally the tent had two beds , but they put one more bed considering the amount of people we were 😀 . you see that Zipper ? well that’s the “door” to the bathroom 😛

This is the bathroom which is a washbasin , a big wooden plank with a big hole in the middle which is used as a floor when you take shower , you have to take a shower with balti ka pani 😀 which is amazing but the thing that bothered me was that the “walls” of my bathroom were flowing with the wind as the whole bathroom was also made of the tent material and there was a window in that tent . I do have to admit I liked it in the heat that I could feel the wind when I was taking a balti shower .
The water that you used to bath with would get absorbed by the sand below and there would be no harm to the nature see ? 😀

The Camp had a volleyball net and a badminton net and other activities such as mountain repelling and climbing and swimming in the Ganges . I couldn’t really play badminton because the wind was so strong all the time 😛 . I loved just floating in the Ganga water , it was so cold but it was so much fun 😀

This was the area where we got our food and water , they had specific timings when we would get food but water was there always 😛 Thank god.

There is my classmate repelling .

The BAD –
1)While travelling to the camp I didn’t sleep the whole night because the buss they provided us had very BAD suspension and they whole bus was shaking and bouncing even in the straight road :/ a classmate had a neck problem because of that :/.

2)I love how they try to create the all natural environment and everything but I have been living in villages in vacations for a long time and when someone tells me , we have to do our business in the bushes and cover it with dirt I don’t mind but here it was a bit …. Unhygienic :/ . They have a small cell soft of made out of wood in which there is an English pot which is on top of a big ditch which takes in all of the …. You know, but the problem is you only get toilet paper :/ , sand to put in the ditch and did I mention how it stinks ? and how there are flies in the ditch which you can feel when you are … doing your business ? ( sorry for being graphic , just want to tell you my horrendous experience ) . Oh and a friend of my also said , he saw something move in the ditch :/ *I did not go to the loo after that*.

The ugly –
Our trip was cut short because of a problem , our professor’s house was broken into and all his money and belongings were stolen and as he was the only professor with us, he had to get back because he lives alone in Delhi and if he wasn’t there , there would not be an FIR written . All the students decided to go back the second day of our arrival. The issue was that we told the camp people our problems and they did not give us Any refund , they took our money which we gave for a 3 day stay and did not even give us one penny back :/ . I believe that was a bit too much and I did not like there service for that , I do not really think I can trust people like that who care only about my money and not the stay , I believe there should me more understanding and professional attitude :/ . we were a group of 40 people and they did not return our money , imagine if we were just 4 people , they wouldn’t even listen to us . I know that there must be some policy of not returning money or something but this was an emergency and they should have taken some step . all I can say is that I was disappointed .

Rating out of 5
Food – 4.5, it was very clean and nicely made 🙂
Service – – I can’t really rate this one because we had to do everything on our own so no question of service but it was a nice gesture to take the luggage of people who needed help .
Ambience – 5 , you go there and the calmness is just so beautiful

I suggest you should go there if you feel everyday busy life getting too much for you  but be a little careful about the money.

Would I be going back – NO , because a) I am Kumauni so I go there to my village anyways
b) I am not impressed with them handling our situation .

Tell me about your vacation experiences . 🙂
