Rose Petals, Sugar and Oil Body Scrub: Do-it-Yourself

Hello everyone,

Today, I am going to share a DIY body scrub recipe that your skin would love. The best part about the sugar and oil scrub is that it can be stored for a long time even without refrigeration. So, I keep a jar of it in the bathroom. Also, it can be mixed and matched with some variation as per the season and the preference.
The variation of the scrub that I am going to share today consists of dried rose petals, sugar, almond oil and rosemary essential oil. It not only makes my skin smooth but also provides relaxation.
Rose-petals scrub
Ingredients:

1. Castor Sugar-1/2 cup
2. Carrier oil-1/3 cup. Use some light oil like almond oil or jojoba oil for summers. For winters, it can be replaced with coconut oil or olive oil. I used almond oil.
3. Dried rose petals-4 to 6 roses
4. Essential Oil-6-8 drops. I used rosemary essential oil.

Step 4:

Store in an air-tight container and keep it in your bathroom for instant use. I stored it in an old FabIndia scrub tub, in which I have made golden polka dots for the glam look. 😀

The body should be massaged well with the scrub. The almond oil makes the body greasy but the oil would go off once you pat your body dry with a towel. No need to apply a body lotion after bath as the scrub is self-moisturising.
The scrub can be stored for more than a month. Just make sure that you do not touch it with wet hands and keep it away from water in general. You can assign an ice-cream spoon to take it out from the container.

I use this scrub twice a week and love its effect on my skin. It makes my skin really soft and smooth. Recently, I had a severe backache and using this scrub relaxed my back to a great extent. This is because of the rosemary oil which has anti-inflammatory  properties. That’s the beauty of this scrub. You can use any essential oil with it as per your preference.

How to dry rose petals:

1. Buy fresh rose or get some from your garden. Avoid the places that sell bouquet since they use many artificial sprays to make the flowers look fresh. I bought the flowers from a flower market where they sell it by weight. They smelled heavenly and the fragrance remained even in the dried rose petals.
2. Wash the flowers properly and pull off the petals from the flower.
3. Spread the petals on a clean surface and let it dry for few days.
4. Now the petals have to be grinded. It should be completely dry before you grind it. One round in the mixer-grinder should be enough.
5. Store it in an air-tight container.I had stored mine in a box for a long time before I made this scrub. One of my friends actually had suspicion that I have kept tobacco in it. Hehe 😀

Benefits of the ingredients used:

Rose petals: Rose petals make the skin smooth and the natural oils in it moisturises the skin.

Castor Sugar: Sugar is a great exfoliator and helps in removing dead skin cells effectively.

Almond oil: Almonds are rich in anti-oxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. Almond oil is one of the most commonly used natural oils. It rejuvenates and softens the skin.

Rosemary Essential Oil:It has astringent properties that helps in rehydrating and toning the skin.It also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps in pain relief.
This is an easy DIY scrub esp. if you have easy access to roses. Make a batch of it soon and pamper yourselves.

    1. Thanks Jasmine…I like to make body scrubs myself. As it can be stored, this makes the task so much easier. 🙂
