Saffron+Yogurt+Gram Flour Anti-Tan Face Pack: DIY

So finally I thought I must share some of my home made skin care tips and packs, before that I have to tell you that back in 2002 or so, I was really tanned , you have to believe me (I know readers on my FB list wont believe it) But this was the school carelessness and then I moved in the direction of tan removal and skin lightening from the kitchen.  I have tried every single thing from the kitchen for my skin, and believe me every little thing works! Over the years, I have tried to stay away from patchy sun tanned skin. Since I have tried so many things, many things have stopped working for me, like milk powder does not work for me if I make a pack out of it, but one of the many things that still works on my non-virgin skin is the following:

Anti Tan Face Pack

For the pack what you need to do is soak kesar overnight in curd/yogurt, I am using homemade version of yogurt. I soak two spoons of curd and ten kesar leaves/strands. I keep it to rest in the fridge and when i mix it up in the curd next morning, it looks like.

kesar and milk

this..the kesar makes the curd look yellow, something like what haldi does too, but I prefer kesar any day. I am using the Everest kesar, you get it anywhere, I got it from Nilgiri;s supermarket.See how the yogurt and kesar mix is ready..

kesar yogurt

This is the Everest one used here, Saffron i feel is very potent to lighten and even out skin, haldi would do the same but on me effect of kesar is very evident so much so that my neighbor once asked me why do you so bright and light, that is when I had used kesar and raw milk mix to clean my face.

kesar or saffron

Now in those two spoons yogurt, you have thicken it to make it like a pack, use one spoon of besan or gram flour, it would look somewhat similar in color, the yellow will be retained.

gram flour

After you mix the besan, this is what it should look like! it gets thick and this much is enough for one time use, I hate making huge amount of products and then throw them away, I would rather make it afresh next day 🙂

yogurt, flour & kesar face pack

Apply this on and leave it for 15 mins or till is semi-dry. I don like to wait to get it dry and all itchy and then remove, I remove it semi wet and rub it in circular motion to remove it. Voila! bright even skint tone is what you get!

Once you are done, you can soak a fresh batch of kesar and yogurt, use a few drops of milk too if you need, and rest it in the fridge. You can even use it daily since I find it very cooling and we need this for this summer, i tan very fast, I look very red too so I find yogurt very soothing. It also makes skin supple.

I have oily acne prone skin type, now that you know I used to be very tanned back in school, you wont recognize me if you happen to see my pics 😛 For me kitchen items have been most useful and I have tried everything under the sun from the kitchen 😛 and it helped me get a better even skin tone. Hope this one helps too. This works like a charm, if you try it and like it, let me know if you want me share other things which worked for me for the stubborn tan.

  19. Wow Neha. *hifive* Thanks for sharing this awesome tip. Besa is allergic to me and i have combination skin. Ca u advise what otheringredients can be used instead of besan,

    1. Nirmala,

if you are allergic to besan you can try using ground masoor dal |(the orange colored dal)….. i have dry skin and besan dries my skin but the ground masoor dal does not dry out my skin so maybe this can help you….

      Neha,

  23. Hi Neha,
Thanks for sharing this awesome tip. My skin type is mix(forehead, nose and chin is oily and cheeks are dry) so will I be able to use this pack, I do not have tanning but I want to lighten my skin tone and can I use this pack in winters as well?

  24. neha,

Im American and while I am already considered light skinned, I want my skin tone to be even and I wouldnt mind being a few shades lighter. I’m going to try and find these ingredients here in the US but I know it wont be easy. Also, I’d love to see before and after pictures. What is your facebook?
