Application Tips:

Creme Hair Bleach for Face is the easiest way to lighten unwanted facial hair. Wash and dry the area to be bleached. Following the instructions in the package, scoop one heaping spatula full of activator onto the included mixing tray. After washing and drying the spatula, measure two heaping spatulas full of Creme Bleach onto the tray. Use spatula to mix together until thoroughly blended. Apply to the area to be bleached, covering all hair completely. Leave mixture on for 8 minutes. Wash mixture off with cool water when finished. If needed, mixture can be reapplied for 5 more minutes. Dispose of any remaining mixture and thoroughly clean mixing tray and applicator when finished.

My Experience with Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach:

I do not bleach my face on a regular basis, threading works just fine for my upper lip area and I do not have tons of unwanted hair over my face, but every once in a while, when I have a special occasion coming up, I bleach my whole face to give my face a glow and fair look and also to lighten those tiny hairs all over the face to give a more uniform appearance to the face. In the past, I have used the Jolen face bleach, but this time, I decided to pick up the Sally Hansen one because I wanted a new bleach and also the fact that it was advertised as “#1 selling bleach brand in America.”

So, the product comes with the usual creme and activator powder.  They have also included a plastic mixing tray and a spatula which are also very handy and practical. The creme itself has a very different metallic silver look and it is very creamy. It is advertised as having a sweet almond scent which is true and it is present in the creme.  Its a very pleasing scent and for once I was so glad and relieved that I won’t have to deal with that horrid scent bleaches have, but I probably spoke a little too soon on that matter.

The activator powder on the other hand has a very strong, very overpoweringly, off-putting horrible scent. Once mixed with the creme, it totally kills the pleasant scent of the bleach and I was left with the pungent smelling creme to apply on my face. It is not uncommon for bleaches to have disgusting smell, the Jolen bleach also did have it, but it would have been nice for this one to be a little bearable. It is so strong that it sometimes makes my eyes water and my nostrils burn when its on my face just with the scent.

So, on the actual performance of the product. When applied on the face, it is not too harsh on the skin though I still feel a slight tingle and burn, but that is a common indication that the bleach is working. It did not burn my skin. After keeping it on my face for about 5 -7 minutes, I wash it off. The results are very consistent all over the face. All the unwanted hair bleach are bleached uniformly and my skin does not feel irritated. Skin does feel a little dry though, but that is a little expected since bleaching is a harsh treatment for the skin. Nothing a little moisturizer won’t fix though. The results last for about a week after which the lightness starts to fade as the hair returns to their normal color.

Quantity provided is okay for the price, will last me for about 4-5 uses if I use it all over my face.  Overall, a decent and good product. Affordable and does the job it is supposed to do.  Nothing too outstanding. I would have liked it for it to not be horrible smelling.

Pros of Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach:

  • Affordable.
  • Easily available.
  • Consistent results.
  • Results last for about a week.
  • Not too harsh on the skin.
  • Does not irritate my skin.
  • Creme actually smells good till you bring in the activator powder.

Cons of Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach:

  • Once mixed with activator, scent is horribly pungent.
