With heavy heart, I have to confess that I have facial hair – not as grave as an obvious beard, but a peach fuzz which cannot be ignored 🙁 I use a combination of threading, waxing and bleaching, but each has its benefits and drawbacks.

• I thread and pluck my brows and upper lips.
• I wax my side burns, neck and forehead hair.
• Finally, I bleach my entire face and neck to camouflage remaining hair.

It is a very time-consuming routine, but I have to do it because makeup cannot cover facial hair, rather it accentuates facial hair, but I can’t live without makeup hence the tedious routine is a part of my skin care routine.

My Take on Sally Hansen Extra Strength Crème Hair Bleach For Face and Body:

Back in India, I had Oxy bleach and it gave satisfactory results, but unfortunately, I couldn’t get that in US and resorted to using Jolen, and it has been nothing but a pain in the neck because it irritates my eyes unbearably, takes forever to bleach the hair, causes black patches on my face.  Hence, I decided to switch to Sally Hansen bleach which turned out to be a good buy.

The box consists of cream bleach in tube, pre conditioner and activator in separate bottles, a measuring cup, spatula and an instruction pamphlet. It is a no-nonsense, easy to carry packaging.

One needs to add one part of activator and two parts of cream bleach – I usually struggle to get the exact ratio correct, but the measuring cup provided makes the whole process easy.

Mix the two into a homogeneous paste and set aside for a few seconds. Apply the pre-bleach on the area to be bleached and then spread the mixture on to the skin with the spatula.

Leave it undisturbed for 8 minutes and if few hair is still left out, leave it on for 5 more minutes. Rinse and pat dry and apply a soothing lotion – I personally apply aloe vera gel or cucumber juice to soothe my skin.

I really liked this bleach for the following reasons:

• It was easy to measure the exact proportion of activator and cream bleach with the help of the measuring cup.
• Pre-conditioner provided is a mixture of witch hazel and alcohol which preps the skin for the bleaching process.
• It didn’t irritate my eyes too much and whatever little discomfort I experienced vanished after 30 seconds.
• Just 8 minutes were enough to bleach my face and neck.
• It was easy to wash off and there were no nasty black patches or redness on my face.
• After a night’s sleep, my face appeared fairer and had a subtle sheen.

Conclusion: It is a really good and gentle facial bleach because it is efficient and works fast. One should use it at least a day before some big event to make its effect more apparent.

• Quantity might not be enough to bleach large areas of the body.

Would I Repurchase Sally Hansen Extra Strength Crème Hair Bleach For Face and Body?

Yes, since I use bleach at least twice a month. I totally recommend this bleach to all of you who are scared to used bleach on their face and also to those ladies who use harsh bleach that ruins their skin.
