This time it’s not a bath and body product review 😉 I would be reviewing the Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover. We all do know that having neat cuticles is very important part of a good manicure, when I was searching for an apt product, I zeroed on this one instead of the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover as I learnt that it can dissolve cuticles in seconds and has sort of industrial strength, I was scared to try that so, this one 🙂
Moisturizes as it soothes cuticles. Fast-acting, lightly fragranced gel gently softens and loosens excess cuticles. Formula with moisturizing Jojoba extract, antioxidant Kiwi extract and nourishing Wheat Protein deeply condition delicate cuticle skin. Built-in pusher tip is perfect for easing back softened cuticles.
How To Use:
1. Apply a thin strip around your cuticle and wait for 1-2 minutes (do not exceed 8-10 minutes).
2. Using the flat end of the pusher tip, gently loosen and push back the cuticle.
3. Remove residue with warm soapy water.

My Experience with Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover:
Well, this is not the first cuticle remover I am using, I have tried a couple of them from other brands too, but they never worked for me, so came to the conclusion that this is a sheer waste of money. Though I do not have too stubborn cuticles, they are not perfect either, so because of my new found love – nail care, I gave it as a gift – to myself of course 😀
I followed some rules of hand and nail care religiously and seems like it’s working (in a positive way). Since I am more of a home spa person, I like doing my own manicure and pedicure too. So, during my search online, I came to know of this and ordered it right away. I have heard a lot of bad things against cutting the cuticles and all kinds if infection it can give, so I thought to give this product a try. The tube looks pretty small but don’t be deceived by that, since you will need a frugal amount in each nail and still it’s going to last for ages. The price is high for that amount of product, but a lot of sites are selling it and since I was in such a haste to buy this (as if the world was coming to an end), I didn’t even check other sites but realized later that I could have saved around INR 100 *cry*
Firstly, I soaked my hands in lukewarm water for 5-10 minutes and wiped them dry. Then as I was trying to squeeze the gel out of the tube, it dispensed a truckload on my nail!! I took a Q-tip and wiped off the excess. The smell OMG don’t even get me started *grrr* and the consistency of the product is like Fevicol, yeah, you are right – Fevicol. I was thinking what a bad buy it was – I could have used that amount to buy something better. Then, I gathered courage to use it on all the cuticles and applied very carefully not to flood my nails.
After 3-4 minutes, I started pushing the cuticles gently with the metallic pusher and wiped of the excess with tissue paper. The tube has a slant tip to push the softened cuticles but it is as useless as the eye shadow and blusher brush that you get with palettes. I noticed that the dissolved cuticles had become flaky and soft and as I rubbed it with the pusher, the flakes came off and I washed my hands with hand wash and applied hand cream soon after. The nails looked a lot neater and well done than before after using this. Finally, I would conclude that this is a good product for the cuticles removal as it has done what it was supposed to do, I didn’t expect miracles either.

4/5 (-1 for the yucky smell).
Would I Repurchase Sally Hansen Gel Cuticle Remover?
This one is going to last me ages, only if I can finish this one. A piece of honest advice to all the ladies, please never ever cut your cuticles. You might be preparing breeding ground for infection. While going to nail salons, check the hygiene of that salon personally as in a nail salon tools are used on different people, check how they sterilize all the nail equipment after each and every customer. Remember that in nail salons, you are sharing those tools whereas at home, you will be the only one to use your things – simple math.
