My Take on Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Chocolate Nut:

I’ll talk about the color first; can’t wait to tell you all about it 🙂 . Chocolate Nut is a color that took me by surprise completely! I mean if you look at the bottle and then at the nail swatches, you’ll know what I am saying. First of all, the shade name is Chocolate Nut, which is sooo not true for this. Seriously! I thought it would come out as some dark chocolate shade on the nails. Then in the bottle it appears a rather rusty brown color, which I don’t like at all if I just look at the bottle. BUT, yes . . . there is a big but here (don’t stray your mind; concentrate 😛 on the review), the color is a beauuuutiful brownish maroon with deep wine undertones, if that’s the correct way to describe it. And I believe it is very close to the Pantone color of the year Marsala. I just realized it while reading the Times Life yesterday (I know I am late 😛 but, I do that with Sunday supplements), which had a complete article on Marsala!

In a single coat, it appears more red with wine undertones. Application is a bit streaky in the first coat, though it is really pigmented and supersmooth. But, the brush is way too long for me! I really had to be extra-careful while applying; I couldn’t even correct the smudges as it struck me in the process that my paint-remover is over! (so sorry for that 😀 ).

Consistency-wise, it is really thick. I don’t mind it, but it takes a lot of time to dry when you have two coats on. I have denim-prints on my right-hand nails, as I put my hand in the pocket after some time! The finish is really shiny and even after 4 days of application. About it’s Xtreme wear claim, a thin line of my nail tips is peaking out of the color. It is really impressive as I use my nails like mechanical tools, and then my official work involves a lot of typing and working on the keyboard round the clock, so ya, for me it is Xtreme Wear!
