Sally Hansen Miracle Growth Nail Lacquer – Plum Parfait Review

Hi everybody,

How are you all doing? As I mentioned in my last post, my exams recently got over and these days, I am in a complete relaxation mode. This summer, I have been trying lots of new things that I had never tried before – like a bright orange lipstick, gold eyeshadow and lots more. There are times when I just feel like breaking the norms and so I did for the first time, by wearing an oxblood nail paint and lipstick (yep, you read that right) in summer. Phew! And since oxblood is so in these days (I’m sure almost everyone is too fond of Lorde by now), I thought of reviewing an oxblood/dark plum nail paint that I own. It’s Sally Hansen miracle growth nail lacquer in the shade Plum Parfait and trust me it’s one of those head-turners. Sally Hansen is one of my favorite brands when it comes to manicure kits and nail paints with all the wide range of shades and textures it has to offer in nail paints. Read on to find out more about it.

My Take on Sally Hansen Miracle Growth Nail Lacquer – Plum Parfait:

Packaging:  It comes in a very ordinary-looking glass bottle with a metal handle brush applicator that is in fact quite secure. But the amazing quality of the brush applicator makes up for the unappealing packaging. The brush is really smooth (I know it doesn’t really make sense, but you can really make out the difference between the quality of a regular brush and a Sally Hansen brush – the bristles of the latter are way smoother), and it’s a flat brush which is curved at the edges which really eases the application of the nail paint.

Shade and Texture:  The shade Plum Parfait is a dark plum (I prefer to call it Oxblood) and looks totally gorgeous. The moment I spotted it at the store, I knew I had to have this shade. Though this shade is not really suitable for the current weather, I decided to break the rules this time and wear it anyway 😛 The shade gives a warm feeling and doesn’t look out of the place or anything. And the best part, it makes my hands look skinny (weird fact, I know; but girls with chubby hands will understand). This nail paint has sheen to it, though I noticed the sheen goes away after two days or so. The nail paint is very, very smooth though is also a bit sloppy and runny in texture.

Color Payoff:  In the swatch, I have applied two coats of the nail paint with just base coat and no top coat. But even one coat is more than sufficient to get a gorgeous plum color on your nails.

Longevity:  The color stays as it is even after 5 days of application and doesn’t really fade like some nail paints do. Though I did notice some minor chipping at the edges after 3 days or so. As for the nail growth I can’t really say anything since my nail growth is really fast on its own too. Only problem is, it takes good 3-5 minutes to dry completely.

Pros of Sally Hansen Miracle Growth Nail Lacquer – Plum Parfait:

  • Beautiful plum color.
  • It has the most awesome brush applicator I have ever come across – it’s flat with curvy edges that really ease the application to a great extent.
  • Has a shine to it.
  • Affordable and I’m sure it will last me a long time.
  • Has a smooth texture.
  • Only one coat is sufficient most of the time.

Cons of Sally Hansen Miracle Growth Nail Lacquer – Plum Parfait:

  • The packaging is not at all attractive.
  • Starts chipping after 3 days or so.
  • Slightly runny in texture which in my opinion is not the best of its features.
  • Takes a long time to dry.
  • I didn’t find any extraordinary/miraculous nail growth.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Sally Hansen Miracle Growth Nail Lacquer – Plum Parfait?

Yes, I recommend this brand and shade of nail paint and I’ll repurchase many more Sally Hansen nail paints in the coming future 😀

    1. Thanks Purva 😀 and as for your slow nail growth I think you should really give this nail paint a try to see if the maximum nail growth claim holds true. Hehehehe. Jokes apart, there are a lot of ways to speed up nail growth, maybe try those?! 🙂
