Saslic and Saslic DS Face Wash Review

Saslic and Saslic DS Face Wash Review

Hi friends,

Today, I will be reviewing Saslic Face Wash, frequently prescribed by dermatologists to oily-skinned gals. Although, I got this one on my own ;-), I came upon a lot of articles about the benefits of salicylic acid, came upon a lot of products which contained it, plus read Clinique brochure where they too boasted of presence of salicylic acid in almost all their products because of its beneficial exfoliating action to reveal fresh new skin.

Saslic Face Wash

Being prone to occasional breakouts, I hate physical scrubs, and I am always looking for chemical ones. Since, I realised salicylic acid satifactorily does that, I did not wait much to buy this face wash 😀

First, let’s check out the benefits of salicylic acid:

It gets rid of dead skin on top, so that other medications can get to the inflamed skin underneath more easily. Salicylic acid has many cosmetic benefits and is usually used to treat blemishes. When applied to the skin, salicylic acid works by causing the cells of the epidermis to shed properly. This prevents the pores of the skin from getting clogged up and being infected with bacteria. It’s basically a chemical agent that aids in the process of exfoliation by eliminating surface skin cells and opening up pores. The acid is also known to break down blackheads and whiteheads as well as other types of acne.

This is what the Saslic face wash company has to say about this ingredient, pretty much the same 😀

Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent. It encourages the peeling of the top layer of the skin and opening up of the plugged follicles, which helps re-establish the normal skin- cell replacement cycle. For milder acne, salicylic acid helps unclog pores to resolve and
prevent lesions. It does not have any effect on the production of the sebum or P. Acnes.

I will be reviewing “Saslic’’ and “Saslic DS.’’
“Saslic” is meant for oily skin.
“Saslic DS” is meant for “considerably oily skin.”

Price:

Saslic, Rs. 150 for 60 ml.
Saslic DS, Rs. 180 for 60 ml.

Ingredients:

Saslic facewash:  Salicylic Acid IP, 1%.
Saslic DS:  Salicylic Acid IP, 2%.

Should be used as part of the daily cleansing routine for the treatment and prevention of acne. Saslic is prescribed for slightly oily skin and Saslic DS is prescribed for considerably oily skin.

Instructions to Use:

Take two actuations/pumps) and gently massage the foam all over the wet face avoiding eyes and surrounding areas. Allow it to remain for 20 to 30 seconds. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Use twice daily.

My Experience with Saslic and Saslic DS Face Wash:

I like the clear transperant , light plastic bottle in nice happy colours like orange and lavender. They don’t look too medical-y and boring. The liquid inside has almost water like consistency and is just “slightly slippery.” However, once you press the pump, it comes out in the form of foam, interesting! 😀

It doesn’t foam much. Once you smooth it over the face, almost all the bubbles are gone, just slightly slippery liquid rests on your face. Since one is supposed to wait for 20 to 30 seconds, I brush my teeth in the meanwhile to let the magic ingredient penetrate my pores well. So, basically, I use it once in the morning after waking up and once before going to sleep in the night. This makes sure I brush my teeth twice :puppy: :puppy:

I had first got Saslic, the orange one because I did not get it through any prescription. So, I wanted to make sure I use the one with less concentration of salicylic acid to get my skin used to it or let’s say, start on it slowly.

Saslic Face Wash

It did clean my skin really well  and after washing off and drying my face, it looked soft and squeaky clean. It did control oil, but not soo much. So, once I almost finished using this 3/4th while seeing beneficial results and softer smoother skin, I knew I had my calling from “Saslic DS,” which had 2% salicylic acid, which is meant for considerably oily skin and mine is hyper oily!! 😥

Saslic DS

The texture is same as above, just slightly more thicker consistency except, it cleanses super thoroughly and controls oil for muchhh much longer and keeps my face matte for super long. Both have helped made my skin much smoother due to the exfoliation property I guess. Also, my skin looks more hydrated now somehow (probably because moisturisers can penetrate the skin well now) and I am not much prone to breakouts anymore because it totally unclogs my pores.

They are very similar to each other, hence I will list them under the same pros and cons section.

Pros:

• Both clean the face thoroughly. Saslic DS, extra thoroughly, gives super squeaky clean skin and keeps skin matte for longer period of time.
• Washes off very easily and doesn’t leave any kind of film behind.
• Both soften the skin considerably.
• Skin gets smoother by the day.
• None of them are drying, though Saslic DS would dry combination skin girls, I think.
• Have controlled breakouts to a great extent. I don’t have to worry about clogged pores and hence, bacteria build up.
• Ensures better penetration of moisturisers and other skin care stuff.
• Very gentle, very unlike other harsh facewashes meant for oily skin.
• Doesn’t have an extensive ingredient list.

Cons:

  • Doesn’t last long, one bottle barely scrapes through a month.
  • Waiting for 20 to 30 secs is BORING!!!
  • Doesn’t lather much, lather is negligible. It could be a con for some people.

Would I Buy This Again:

Yes, totally, I will buy Saslic DS again as my skin is extremely oily.

Would I Recommend it to Others?

Yes, this product really works. It’s like cleaning and exfoliating both together without actually using a physical granular scrub.

My rating:

5 stars.

    1. yea salicylic acid does nt do anything to help existing pimples… bit only unclogs ur pores to prevent future ones … 😀

    1. hi deepa.. thi rings a bell.. one of my collegue was recommended mary kay acne set by her beautician… and all her pimples were gone.. her kin looked fesh and new… but the momnt she stopped using it her skin came back to same condition.. probably she neeeded to show a dermat to get hormones and tuff cheked

  12. omg :woot:
    too many products for acne
    i am so confused 🙁
wat to do ? buy medicated creams , facewashes or to use homemade products 😮
    help me :shame:

    1. haha..
if ur condition is severe.. then it best to use medicated ones rather than cosmetic stuff
      as these really help…
and home remedies take time so some lose patience.. but u can always use home remedies side by side… 😀 😀

  13. Neha i dont hv severe acne !! (tw) O:)
basically hv little pimples on forehead not even pimples whiteheads i would say wich later result in acne !! 🙁
