With the mercury levels rising every day, summer seems to completely drain us out. Below is a gentle remainder of do’s & don’ts which would help you sail through this scorching heat, safe & healthy.
1. Stay Hydrated:
In summers it is very important to hydrate your skin from inside as body tends to lose more moisturizer at this time. Drink at least 12 Glasses of water every day to replenish the lost water.
2. Stay Indoors:
Try to stay indoors as much as possible especially during peak hours i.e. 10a.m to 4p.m, to avoid heat exhaustion. Rather than hopping from shop to shop in an old Delhi style market, consider going to a air-conditioned shopping mall.
3. Use sunscreen:
This one is no brainer. Slather on tons of sunscreen before leaving home. Also, make sure to wear UV protected sunglasses to protect your delicate eyes from harsh sun rays.
Even if you are using sunscreen, make sure to cover your face properly while moving out in the sun. Always carry a scarf or stole with you. It’s better to be safe than sorry. : P
5. Minimal makeup:
You don’t need to slather too much makeup in summers as harsh sun would melt it away, making you look patchy. Waterproof mascara & kajal with a hint of lip-gloss is more than enough.
6. Don’t leave oil in hair overnight:
Leaving oil overnight will leave you with the Chip-chip feeling. Oiling one hour before shower is enough in such a weather.
7. Eat Light:
Summer is a season of gorgeous foods & vegetables. Eating food cooked in a healthy way, in a lesser amount of oil, is a smart choice in summers. Also, Eat lots & lots of salads.
8. Eat Seasonal Fruits:
Summer is the season to enjoy fresh seasonal fruits like watermelon, Mangoes or muskmelon. They not only help to quench the thirst, but also have various nutritional benefits.
9. Cooling drinks:
Rather than drinking aerated drinks, try cooling drinks at home like our good old neembu paani , chaach, coconut water to quench your thirst. Restrict the consumption of ready to drink beverages /sharbats available in market like Rasna, Roohafzaa as they are very high in sugar content.
10. Avoid junk food:
In summers, our bodies are more prone to stomach infections, so try to avoid eating out as much as possible. Also, try to restrict the consumption of Junk/processed food.
11. Take care of your feet:
After face, feet are the first to show the sign of heat exhaustion. Wash you feet with cold water at night before retiring to bed. You should also go for regular pedicures in this season to pamper your feet.
