Schmidt’s Bergamot Lime Deodorant Review

Hello ladies!

I hope March has been treating you well. It’s summer down here in Singapore, and boy is it hot as hell! I guess the worst thing about getting older is that your sweat slowly starts to smell as you age. Why didn’t anyone tell me that?! I was basking in my “odor-free, sweaty glory” for years and years until now. I hate it, it’s so gross. The problem is, I can’t use traditional deodorants since I’m allergic to a bunch of things in them plus they always give you that weird white cast on your armpits which is not attractive. Add to that, the fact that they are wildly unhealthy! Apparently, deodorants are directly linked to breast cancer. Um, no thanks. But what’s a girl supposed to do? Just go out and about in the world sweating and smelling with reckless abandon? I don’t think so! I’ve been trying out natural deodorants for years now, but I haven’t found one that actually works until now. Most of the ones I’ve tried have been plain baking soda with a high price mark-up, or it’s given me an allergic reaction, but the one I’m reviewing today is so, so great. Meet Schmidt’s deodorant in Bergamont and Lime.

Schmidt's Bergamot Lime Deodorant Review

Product Details:
This is their story: Schmidt’s started in 2010 in a Portland, Oregon, kitchen, when founder Jaime Schmidt was pregnant with her son. Jaime’s pregnancy brought her lifetime passion for natural body care into focus, motivating her to make products at home that would benefit her family’s health. Knowing that natural deodorant had a reputation for being ineffective, Jaime made it her mission to change the way people think about deodorant, refusing to compromise any effectiveness when developing her formula.
What they claim: Schmidt’s deodorant is confirmed to effectively neutralize odor and wetness, felt fantastic on skin, and smelled incredible.

My Experience with Schmidt’s Bergamot Lime Deodorant:

Does it neutralize odor? Yes!
Does it reduce wetness? A bit.
Does it smell incredible? No.

But hey, at least I don’t smell bad anymore! This is by far the best deodorant I have ever tried. It’s completely natural, free of aluminum, propylene glycol, parabens and phthalates. It’s not greasy or sticky, it feels as if I don’t have anything on at all. It’s vegan, gluten-free, and is made cruelty-free.

I especially like that all the ingredients are things I know about, like there aren’t random chemicals that I’m putting on my body. The deodorant comes in two varieties, a stick and a jar. I chose the jar since it was cheaper (haha). They’re basically the same formula, the only thing is that the stick is sort of a roll-on application while the jar requires you to use your hands. It comes with a little spatula to scoop out the product. Scoop out a pea-sized amount, warm it between your fingers and apply to your armpits. It goes on completely transparent, no white cast. It doesn’t aggravate ashy armpits either.

It is currently available in 5 scents and a fragrance-free version. I have the one in Bergamont+Lime, since everyone said it was the best one.

The scent itself is fine, nothing special, not a huge fan. I’d probably get fragrance-free when I repurchase. The main thing is that it completely neutralizes the smell of sweat from your armpits, which is absolutely fantastic. It only reduces wetness to a certain extent, but even if you’re still sweating, it’ll help to ensure that you don’t smell bad.

Pros of Schmidt’s Bergamot Lime Deodorant:

  • Excellent deodorant.
  • Neutralizes odor for 12+ hours.
  • Natural.
  • Colorless on skin.
  • Does not irritate skin.

Cons of Schmidt’s Bergamot Lime Deodorant:

  • The jar is a bit of a hassle to use.
  • The jar isn’t travel friendly.
