I love hoarding on various hair care products. At any point of time, I have almost 4-5 bottles each of shampoo, conditioner, hair oil and hair serum in my bathroom vanity. I hardly ever wait for a hair care product to finish before I jump and buy a new one. So, when I read about the launch of the new “Essence Ultime” hair care range developed by Schwarzkopf in association with Claudia Schiffer, I knew I had to try something from this range. Read on to find out whether Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Satin Frizz Control and Protect Nutri-Nectar Beauty Oil really delivers.

My Take on Schwarzkopf Satin Frizz Control and Protect Nutri-Nectar Beauty Oil:
Packaging: This product comes in a sleek yet sturdy honey-colored plastic bottle. It has a dispenser pump mechanism which I love as it helps to dispense only the required quantity of the product. The cap shuts tight and there is no risk of any spillage.
Fragrance: I absolutely love how this hair oil smells!! At the onset, I found it to be floral, but gradually the musk notes took over. Since, it smells almost like a perfume, I decided to look up this product on the official Schwarzkopf website. And I was amazed to find out that this signature fragrance was created by Schwarzkopf in association with Claudia Schiffer and contains 135 precious fragrance ingredients. The top notes are apple, pear and ripening fig followed by rose buds, star jasmine and heliotrope. The base notes are white musk, amber, soft vanilla and warm sandalwood. The fragrance might be a bit strong for some, but it gradually fades away and you surely do not smell like you have dipped your head in a perfume bucket 😛
And now my experience with the oil itself:
Well, this product has somehow managed to prove me wrong at all my guesses.
First guess: Even though the product is called “nutri-nectar beauty oil,” I was expecting it to have a thin watery consistency like most hair serums. I was wrong! It has a medium thick consistency and felt quite sticky.
Second guess: Looking at its consistency, I was a bit disappointed and thought I won’t be able to spread it through my hair. I applied it to my shampooed and slightly damp hair and I was wrong! I needed no effort to spread it through my hair, but my hair did look like I had applied a lot of oil.
And here comes my third guess: I thought, this is going to make my hair super greasy and I was wrong again. The bottle mentions “fast drying.” I typically associate that kind of a statement with nail polishes and hence wasn’t expecting much, but “fast drying” it surely is. I was amazed at how all of that oil disappeared into my hair a short while after the application. And, I do not have dry hair. Amazing!
I checked myself in the mirror about 2-3 hours after the application and fell in love with what I saw: I loved how smooth and shiny my hair looked and how soft it felt.
I thought I had finally got my Holy Grail hair care product and I was wrong again! It managed to control the static in my hair and make them a lot more presentable in these cold dry windy days, but I still had a lot of flyaways by day 2. On the positive side, my hair continued to feel soft and nourished until day 5 when I washed them again. Also, it did not make my hair any greasier or oilier than it normally becomes. I did not notice any aggravated hair fall or irritation either.
I have now used this hair oil for close to a month. And to summarize, it might not be perfect to take care of all the frizz as it claims, but more than good to give you healthy, nourished and glossy looking hair.
Note: This product has to be applied only to your hair. It cannot be used for good old “champi maalish” (head/scalp massage).
Pros of Schwarzkopf Satin Frizz Control and Protect Nutri-Nectar Beauty Oil:
- Easily spreadable.
- Fast drying.
- Does not make hair greasy.
- Nourishes hair to give a healthy glossy look.
- Nice fragrance.
Cons of Schwarzkopf Satin Frizz Control and Protect Nutri-Nectar Beauty Oil:
- Fragrance is strong and can be a con for some.
- Does not succeed entirely in controlling the frizz.
- Contains chemicals.
- Not sure of availability in India. This range was launched in US in Jan 2015.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Schwarzkopf Satin Frizz Control and Protect Nutri-Nectar Beauty Oil?
If you are looking for a hair oil to give you softer, smoother, glossier hair and do not care much about flyaways, then you can surely try out this product. I am a bit on the fence with this one as it does not control my frizz entirely. So, might not repurchase.
