Sebamed Lip Defence SPF30 Review

By Nisha Negi

Hello Beautiful people!
Well! This is my first blog ever and I am very excited about the same. Hope you would enjoy the writing and seek some help from the review. The product that I am going to review today is a lip balm named sebamed lip defence (for dry and chapped lips).
I have been someone who’d stuck to the fancy/in trend products when it came to lip balms. The fancy packaging, pretty ads, lovely colours always attracted me. But the exposure to this product changed my mind set.

I came across this lip balm when I was having an allergy attack on my lips and my dermatologist suggested me this to protect my lips from the harsh rays of sun and moisturize them at the same time. I used it when my lips were drying off badly due to the weather change or the sun attack as my dermatologist guessed (because it is always hard to find what caused the allergy).
The result impressed me to an extent that I had to tell everyone about it.
Let’s get started with the details now.

Price: INR 450 for 4.8g. I got it from Apollo pharmacy in Bangalore but I am sure you can find it at any pharmacy and it is also available online.

Ingredients:

Product Description: Against the irritating drying effects of environmental influences regenerates dry and chapped lips quickly and effectively, alleviating irritation and inflammation with vitamin E and bisabolol (camomile extract), nurtures sensitive lips with the intensive treatment properties of the essential plant extracts triglycerides, protecting them from dehydration, defends the tender lip tissue with UVA and UVB filters against sunburn and its consequences. The brand also claims intensive care with jojoba oil, vitamin E protection against free radicals and bisabolol soothing and regenerating.

Packaging: The lip balm comes in a white colored twist up tube. Nothing fancy about the packaging though.

Texture: It has a very smooth texture. It doesn’t feel heavy on lips but that doesn’t compromise with the moisturisation. I can say that it has the perfect texture for a lip balm.

My Experience With Sebamed Lip Defence SPF30:

I used it on my super dry lips when my lips were flaking off. The result could be seen within 24 hours. I kept on applying it during intervals when my lips felt dry. It kept them moisturizer and happy. It also has SPF 30 which is quite rare to be found in a lip balm. It moisturizes your lips and protects them from the sun at the same time. Thumps up!

Though it doesn’t have any flavor or colour, it doesn’t leave a white cast on the lips, which is one problem that I face whenever I go for the lip balms that are not tinted. But this one is an exception. It leaves a dewy effect after the application. It can be layered underneath any lip color. It has a mild fragrance which is not at all annoying. In fact, I kind of like it :p. I had super dry lips before using it so I can conclude that you can use it no matter what type of lips you have. It doesn’t get stuck in the cracks, if you have any.

I am using it even now when my allergy is gone and it works amazingly. It certainly requires re application after few hours. As it is not tinted, it is very easy to re apply it, even when I am out and don’t have a mirror.
Over all when I buy a product I have certain expectations and this one totally passed the test in flying colours.

Pros of Sebamed Lip Defence SPF30:

• Super moisturizing. It does the job well.
• Though it is not tinted, it doesn’t leave a white cast on the lips.
• Results are visible after few applications.
• Has SPF 30, which is great for a lip balm.
• Can be worn under any lip colour.
• Doesn’t feel heavy on lips and yet moisturising at the same time.
• Suitable for all lip types (super dry, dry, chapped, not dry).
• Contains castor oil, jojoba oil, rice bran wax and bisabolol, which are known for their effective properties.

Cons of Sebamed Lip Defence SPF30:

There is no con but if I have to state some flaws on gunpoint, then it would be the following.
• Slightly expensive for a lip balm as compared to other drugstore brands.
• No fancy packaging.

Will I Repurchase Sebamed Lip Defence SPF30?
A good lip balm with high SPF is a must have in a girl’s pocket before leaving home and I guess we have found the one. Though it is on a bit expensive side, I would surely purchase it again and again because my lips are totally worth it.

Will I Recommend Sebamed Lip Defence SPF30?
Yes. If you are in love with your lips and want to give them what they have never got before, you have to get your hands on this product. You will not be left disappointed.
