Sekkisui Kose Skincare Set Review

Hello there lovelies!

Today, I am reviewing Kose Sekkisui products. Sekkisui is the drugstore version of the more expensive Sekkisei, which I intend to buy some products from in a few months. If you are ever in Japan, I highly recommend popping into a convenience store or mall and picking up some of the trial kits. It is a great way to find and experiment with new products; test them and see if they really work for you.

The trial kits are generally anywhere from 500 to 5000 yen. I have seen SK-II kits for much higher (¥7000), of course. The trial kits are especially important for high-end brands because even after you read a review somewhere about the product that it’s great and you excitedly go, buy it and then try it, there is a chance it might not work for you. Your skin tone and skin type, weather conditions of where you live, the season, everything plays a role. So, the concept of trial kits is very very pocket friendly, very portable, very travel-friendly and you truly get your money’s true worth. It is an experience that you should not skip if you have the chance! I have bought quite a few kits for reviewing.

This kit lasted me a good 3-4 weeks and by the end of these four weeks, I had a solid idea of what these products are and how they perform for my combination skin. You have to keep in my mind that this kit is for dry skin. As you can see, they have released a Frozen version of the kit.

All the products come in typical blue coloured tubes or containers with white caps. Whereas, all of these containers come in a zip pouch with blue details. In this case, because of the Frozen theme, the tubes come with character from the movie scenes printed on the product with the cap having a silver laced design. This is so pretty! The packaging of the lotion and emulsion is just a standard plastic container with an opening at the top. The only con with this is that you cannot control the quantity you get out especially because you have to sort of shake it to get the product out. You can easily go overboard with the quantity, so I would advise you to carefully only take the quantity you need. As for the packaging of the face wash, it is much more easier to take the product out because it is a squeeze tube.

Sekkisui White Face Wash Cream (20g):

I feel this is the best product from of the kit. It has not disappointed me at all. It lathers up quite nicely and the foam cleanses the face quite well as compared to my Shiseido Pure Whip. It also does not dry out my skin after use.

Sekkisui Kose Skincare Set Review

Pros:
• Foams up easily.
• Does not dry out skin.

Cons:
• None!

Sekkisui Pure Whitening Lotion (35 ml):

This product is whitish in color and very watery. It gets absorbed into the skin very quickly. It has a very strong scent of ethanol that is sort of overwhelming. I did not enjoy this product because I felt I am literally putting only ethanol all over my face. It reminds me of the typical biosafety cabinet!

Sekkisui Kose Skincare Set Review

Pros:
• Watery and spreads easily on the face.
• Preps the skin for moisturizer.

Cons:
• Strong and overwhelming ethanol scent.

Sekkisui Pure Emulsion (35 ml):

When you first pat it onto the face, it looks pretty crazy. Looks like there is water all over your face. But, as you start working with it, the texture changes to a white cream which you have to blend out. So, I usually take a little bit and pat it onto the skin with no rubbing. It takes a while to sink into the skin, so I never used it when I was in a hurry to go outside. But, I don’t notice much of a difference or a problem, for that matter, with the way my foundation looks and feels on the top of this toner and emulsion.
