Sephora Collection Algae Sleeping Mask Review

I had previously reviewed the “Pomegranate Sleeping Mask” from Sephora Collection. Today, I am reviewing another variant – Algae Sleeping Mask. Scroll down for more details on this mask.

Product Description:
A line of rich cream-gel textured sleeping masks, each with a skin refreshing benefit.
Each of these masks is infused with a different active ingredient for relaxing the skin and achieving a brighter, more revitalized complexion. The luxurious cream-gel texture melts into skin for penetration of the active ingredients while you sleep. Algae mask cleanses and detoxifies skin while helping to eliminate impurities for a fresh, radiant morning complexion.

My Experience with Sephora Collection Algae Sleeping Mask:

Packaging: The packaging is lovely and handy. The mask comes in a small plastic tub. It looks similar to capsule masks from Innisfree. I feel these masks are very handy for people who travel a lot or have long0haul flights. This mask comes encased in a refreshing blue cardboard box with all details beautifully printed on it. The tub has a proper seal, which has to be torn open to reveal gel-like contents inside.

Texture: The texture of the mask is gel like. In fact, it a lightweight non-sticky gel which has a faint pleasant scent. It looks pale milky in the tub but comes out almost clear on the skin. I like the consistency which is thicker than serum yet spreads so easily on the skin.

It’s very easy to apply the mask. The quantity is enough for two uses. I would recommend slathering it on your face and neck and storing the rest in refrigerator for another use. There is a nice cooling sensation on applying the mask. It doesn’t really absorb fast into the skin, so you can see residue on your face. I applied it at night and slept with it overnight. Surprisingly, I felt no discomfort or stickiness. Around 50% of the gel got absorbed in one hour. It didn’t stain or wet my pillow.

As per the claims on the Sephora website, in a use test on 22 volunteers, after 21 days of use:
- 95% felt skin is purified
- 82% felt the product helps to eliminate traces of pollution
- 86% felt skin is detoxified.

This small mask costing 4 dollars will last two uses hardly, hence you might need many of these masks to completely test these claims. I honestly loved the overnight effect of this mask on my skin. I have dull and oily skin. This made my skin very fresh and pure in one use. I could see no signs of fatigue, and my usually stressed skin looked radiant and clean. It looked very detoxified, there was no oiliness yet it seemed very hydrated and nourished. The velvety soft skin which I woke up to was a great way to start my morning. Instead of using face wash and moisturizer, I applied makeup after just washing my face. My skin didn’t feel dull or dehydrated, neither did I feel the need of a moisturizer.

The effects from applying this mask last for a day or two. If you have a mid-week event and don’t have time to prep your skin, apply this overnight and wake up to fresher skin sans dullness. Also, for flights where your skin can tend to get patchy and dull, you can leave it on for the entire journey and wipe it off just before landing to look absolutely radiant. I totally love this mask, much more than the other Pomegranate variant.
