I found this adorable product while scanning through the ‘sale’ page of the Sephora website. Since it was available for just $7 I didn’t give it a second thought and ordered it. These Ink Gels are available in six shades. I chose 01 Peony because I wanted a very mild pink blush for my everyday makeup routine. Read on to find out more about the product.
Price: $14 for 19 g
What it is:
A translucent, long-wearing, buildable gel stain that gives skin a natural flushed look.
What it does:
This non-sticky gel blush stain gives skin a pop of color that lasts. Infused with hibiscus extract, the formula leaves skin looking fresh for hours. Colors are sheer when first applied to skin, allowing you to build color for more intensity. A little goes a long way so you get maximum uses from a single tube.
How to Use:
– Apply directly on to the apples of your cheeks with a makeup brush and blend outward.
– One layer gives you a subtle flush, while layering the formula will intensify the shades.

This product has a very light texture that flushes over the cheeks. I expected it to be a little sticky, but it is quite smooth in application. It blends with ease and I use it almost every day now!
I’m sort of disappointed with the pigmentation of this product. It is hard to notice the product you put on the cheeks. There is no colour payoff and the skin seems to absorb the liquid. At least 3 swipes are required to get the desired color.
My Experience with Sephora Collection Colorful Cheek Ink Gel 01 Peony:
I have a very sensitive skin. For some reason, most of the cream blushes or contouring products cause my cheeks to break out. The texture of this ink gel is fairly thick and it isn’t creamy at all. Therefore, it suits my sensitive skin.
The pigmentation doesn’t seem good enough. I put it on bare skin to test it out and it’s very faint. I tried it on my face with a foundation as well and it didn’t show up at all, and it also made my foundation kind of weird and sort of rubbed it all off. The color is pinkish-purple and will suit cool undertones. It looks great on the yellow undertones too.
It does dry quickly and looks natural on the cheeks if I use 3-4 drops, however, I am a little annoyed as it takes more time than powder blushes. Surprisingly, it stains my fingers more than my cheeks. So, I keep applying it over and over again and end up looking like a clown when the blush dries down.
The worst part is it comes off on its own after 2 hours or so. So, just because I don’t want to waste it, I use it as a base for my powder blush. Overall, I’m not really impressed with this blush.
