Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review

Hello, IMBBians!

Konjac sponges are nature’s own exfoliators. I have always wanted to own one, but as they were pretty expensive, I always gave it a skip. Recently, during my visit to Sephora in Paris, I saw that they have their own Konjac Sponges. I picked up the two variants available, as it stated: “Hot in Korea” and I blindly believe in Korean beauty promises. Today’s review is all about Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge. Read on to know more about the product.

My Experience with Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge:

Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review Back

The Konjac Sponge comes in a sealed pouch. You can see the sponge through the pouch. All the necessary information, the make and the instructions, is given on the back of the pouch. Initially, the sponge is hard and looks like a white, half sphere. It looks similar to the foam packaging material. It doesn’t have any smell. It comes with a white thread which can be used to hang it on a hook in your bathroom for drying. This sponge is natural/bare and doesn’t have anything infused.

Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review Close up

The Konjac Sponge has to be soaked in warm water before application. As soon as the sponge is soaked in the water, it absorbs the water making it soft and squishy. It, then, reminds me of a stress ball. When I first opened the sponge, I thought that how could a product this hard be used for daily cleansing but I was amazed after seeing how soft it turned. You can either use the sponge alone or use face wash and then scrub it with the sponge. Lazy people, like me, prefer to squeeze out the face wash on the sponge and then apply on the face. I am not sure which is the correct side to use, and so I use them both. The lifetime of the sponge is around 2-3 months and then it has to be tossed out. I really feel bad about this.

Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review Open

The Konjac Sponge feels extremely soft on your face and doesn’t cause any abrasions, irritation or redness. It can be used to exfoliate the skin gently and is also suitable for people with sensitive skin. The sponge cleanses the face thoroughly, removing all the dirt and oil from the face. I had a tan and now that the tan is reducing, my skin is peeling and this sponge comes in handy to remove the dead skin without any issues. Considering its bouncy texture, it can be easily used to clean the sides of the nose.

Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review Inverted

When used alone, the sponge doesn’t make the skin dry. I have found the sponge to be ineffective when it comes to removing the whiteheads or blackheads. Once washed, the skin looks very radiant and fresh. The sponge also makes the skin very smooth and soft. The oil production is also reduced considerably. The sponge takes a lot of time to dry, no matter how much I squeeze out the water, and this can make it a breeding ground for germs considering that it stays in the bathroom for the whole day.

Sephora Collection Face Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review In Hand

The Konjac Sponge is 100% natural and biodegradable, and thus, it doesn’t cause any harm to the environment. I absolutely love this product and can’t wait to try the another one.

  1. Hi I been following oil cleansing and been looking out for a good sponge for gentle exfoliation. This seems to be good but the price tag is hefty for me ..that too for a sponge !!
