Sephora Collection Lip Balm Almond Review

By Meenakshi G.

Hello everyone,

I cannot live without good lip balms and chapsticks, but at the same time, I do not want to burn a hole in my pocket while buying these lip products. I was more than excited when I saw that Sephora has come out with their own in-house lip balm and scrubs without a hefty price tag. These lip balms come in six variants, each one serving a different purpose:

  • Goji – Nourishing and protecting.
  • Rose – Nourishing and shining.
  • Coconut – Nourishing and soothing.
  • Tangerine – Nourishing and toning.
  • Almond – Nourishing and moisturizing.
  • Honey – Exfoliating and smoothing (scrub).

Sephora Collection Lip Balm Almond Review

As I usually suffer from dry lips, I went ahead and bought the “Almond” variant. So, let’s get started with the review.

Product Description from Sephora’s website:
A range of six lip balms, each with a different ingredient to nurture lips all day long.

What does:
Available in balm or scrub format, these addictive scent will meet any lip concern and boost every mood. Each of the five balms feature targeted ingredients for specific benefits. The lip scrub features gentle sugar exfoliants to smooth and soften lips, priming them for lipstick and other lip products.
Price and Quantity:
CAD 8 plus taxes for 0.123 oz/3.5 gm.

My Experience with Sephora Collection Lip Balm Almond:

This comes in a paper-cardboard like packaging with each variant having different color schemes. For e.g., the rose variant has a slight reddish pink outer packaging whereas the almond variant comes in a very light green pistachio-colored packaging. It looks just like a lipstick with a twist mechanism. The top of the stick bullet is flat and not tapered like a regular lipstick. The cap has small almonds printed all over. The use of paper is definitely environment friendly, but I am not sure if this makes it very travel friendly.

This product claims to be an non-tinted balm, but on my pigmented lips, this does leave a weird white cast which I am not very fond of. It goes on almost clear with a strong shine to it. The lasting power is only around 2 hours which means that you have to keep on reapplying it. It does have a very mild fragrance. It doesn’t taste like anything, which is a plus point.

Here are the swatches (hopefully the white cast could be somewhat noticed).

It might not leave this white cast if it is swiped only once, but in one swipe, this balm does not impart a lot of nourishment.

Pros of Sephora Collection Lip Balm Almond:

  • Affordable for the price of a lip balm.
  • Ease of use.
  • Might work for people with less pigmented lips.
  • Sleek packaging.

Cons of Sephora Collection Lip Balm Almond:

  • No SPF.
  • Leaves a weird white cast if swiped more than once.
  • Availability issues.
  • Needs to be reapplied often.
  • Staying power.
  • Not at all moisturizing.
  • Doesn’t hold up to its claims and research results.
  • The ingredients list is too long to be a lip balm.
  • Not very travel friendly.

IMBB Rating:
2.9/5. I am not at all happy with this product. Even though it comes with a great price tag, I would like to spend a little more and get a better quality lip balm.
