Sephora Collection Teint Infusion Ethereal Natural Finish Foundation Review

Skin tone: Fair-light, yellow-neutral undertones.
Skin type: Oily-sensitive, acne prone.

Hello, friends!

The concept of using a serum infused, light-weight foundation is not new as 2016 was all about serum foundations apart from cushion compact sunscreens and/or makeup. Well, I have a kind of like-dislike relation with this product as it gives such a lightweight buildable coverage still, I feel it can do better! So, let’s read more about Sephora Collection Teint Infusion Ethereal Natural Finish Foundation!

My Experience with Sephora Collection Teint Infusion Ethereal Natural Finish Foundation:

The runny foundation comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a dropper attached to a black twist over the cap; sounds perfect for a fluid foundation. It does have a mild fragrance which should be my least concern. Overall, I like the sturdy, hygienic and travel-friendly packaging. Sephora launched these fluid foundations in some 18 shades ranging from fairer to darker skin tones and I am sure every Asian-Indian beauty will get her matching shade in the range. I picked shade “Cream” which seems the closest match for my pale skin tone, though, I might need one shade darker for summers. I love how it pairs nicely with my natural skin tone making it even toned and glowing with light-weight coverage. In fact, it provides medium buildable coverage with few layers without looking cakey or heavier on the skin.

The key is to use it with a light hand dabbing motion with wet sponge and layer it on as required. Now, it is not that easy as they say because the formula of this foundation seems a bit tricky for problematic skin type. I mean it tends to cling onto even mild dry patches and often emphasise them further which often creates a slight streaky, uneven finish on my skin. I tried using it on a well-exfoliated skin but, on my peeling skin, I can always spot patches of foundation sitting on my nose or cheek area. This also explains why I always use a dabbing motion to press it on the skin as brush strokes might stimulate peeling further making it sit on the top of patches. I think it is just my problem as I am currently using BHA peeling products which make my skin peel off hence, even the best of best foundation would appear patchy on my face.

However, hats off to my “Makeup Forever Face and Body Liquid Makeup” as it gives me a perfect finish even now. So, comparing it to my way expensive foundation which still seems working for my problematic skin, I find Sephora foundation could have been better. Surprisingly, the foundation tends to give a semi-matte finish on the skin while I could not find anything moisturising for my skin considering it sits on even mild dry patches. But, then it does not make my skin dry.

I usually pair it with a hydrating moisturiser to achieve that tinted moisturiser finish and it works well as I can see it is quite a pigmented foundation, unlike the thin serum concept foundation. I don’t think it would suit dry skin beauties while I am not sure about its average oil controlling property as I feel dewy skin within 4-5 hours of wearing this foundation. If you have even toned, soft smooth skin then this foundation is a dream come true for you as it will blend nicely on non-flaky skin providing medium to buildable coverage, it is good enough to conceal redness! Not to forget the price it comes for is a total steal only if it works well for our skin type. I would like to try it again once I finish with this peeling off skin sessions as I like how it imparts even tone, light-weight finish on my skin hiding even acne scars and redness on few occasions.

  1. I agree that it clings to dry patches. My skin is combo/dehyrdrated and it definitely clings into dry patches. I’m also not very happy about the talc in it.
