Sephora MicroSmooth Star Dust Baked Luminizer Review

Namaste to all charming beauties!!!

I am really excited to write about this product because I wanted it so bad, but it had been out of stock for so long that I almost gave up.  It was back in stock and I ran for it like it was the last piece in the world. Why I wanted it so bad? You may ask, because it is comparable to NARS luminizer but better. Keep reading further to know more about it.

My Take on Sephora MicroSmooth Star Dust Baked Luminizer:

The product is baked and pressed in a plastic pan which has a plastic, clear top lid. It not only competes with NARS in case of product performance but also in terms of packaging. It is strong and sturdy and easy to store.

It is a highlighter shade, so its usage is self explanatory – it is to be applied on the high points of the face to give more definition to the face.  But more than that, I love to use this as a highlighter on my cheek bones because I like to keep my look matte except for a tinge of highlighter on my cheek bones and bridge of the nose to add the right amount of shimmer to my face. Some people can also use it for strobing.

One can use it to get a very natural tint or can go all out to get that bling – appropriate for special occasions with million flash bulbs illuminating our face. A single swipe will give a subtle sheen which appears very natural and appealing.  With multiple swipes, one can intensify the sheen. It is also very easy to blend, just with the help of finger tips. The product is really good for those who are new to the concept of highlighting and contouring.

Since it’s a luminizer, it is bound to have shimmer and shine, but it is not over the top frosty or dewy.  On first impression, it appears a bit too chalky but it blends beautifully and leaves just the right amount dewy finish behind.

Such products have good wear time unless one vigorously rubs their face or such, but otherwise, these products have satisfactory longevity and are waterproof and sweat proof.

For the amount and effect achieved by this product, it is totally worth the $12.  It also comes in two shades – this Stardust one and the other one is a bronze pink similar to NARS Albatross.

I really like such budget beauty hacks.  It’s okay to shell out tonnes of money once in a while to indulge in some luxury, but otherwise, I personally never see the point in buying super expensive products when the same effect can be achieved with drugstore brands. After all, I am an Indian, thrifty, and proud about it 😛
