Sephora Outrageous Volume Dramatic Volume Mascara

I love mascara. I think mascara adds just the right amount of drama to any make-up look and I can’t leave the house without a little bit of mascara on. I am always on the hunt for a good mascara and that’s why on my recent visit to Sephora, I picked up the Sephora Outrageous Volume Mascara because it sounded so tempting. I wear glasses and although there’s not much I can do to make my eyes pop, I try to do everything I can. Hope you enjoy the review.

Sephora claims –

“This mascara’s unique triple load brush intensely coats lashes in one easy stroke for a full, luscious look. The thick, Ultra Black formula is enriched with hyaluronic acid—an ingredient recognized for its moisturizing properties. Use the brush’s reservoirs to intensify lashes from root to tip, separate lashes with the “spiked” areas, or achieve a curved effect by pressing the brush lightly against the tips of the upper lashes.”
The packaging: The product comes in traditional mascara tube except that the tube is beautifully designed and the fact that its glossy and black only adds to the beauty.

My lashes : I have really sparse lashes with a slight curl.

My experience with Sephora Outrageous Volume Mascara :

Like all good evaluators, I’ll talk about the pros first. It is probably the blackest mascara I’ve come across and lasts a good 6-7 hours. It definitely adds length to the lashes and lives up to the promise of dramatic lashes and does hold the curl. When you’re done with all the eye drama at the end of the day, the mascara comes off easily with an eye makeup remover. Unfortunately, those are the only good things I have to say about this product. Let me just put it out there – I do not like the brush of this mascara. The mascara has no filter to control the amount of product you get on the brush, as a result of which the brush pulls out a truckload of mascara. The mascara is thick and gloopy in consistency and its very easy to mess up the application, especially on the bottom lashes. I want the mascara to coat my lashes and separate them, not to clump them together. This mascara also flakes like nobody’s business. After about a couple of hours, I can see little mascara pieces below my eyes and believe me its not a pretty sight. Its an awfully difficult product to work with. One coat takes ages to dry and if you try to apply a second coat, the lashes stick together and all you are left with are glued lashes. I tried it with and without a curler and the result was the same.
I really wanted this mascara to work but I was obviously in for disappointment. Now, mascaras work differently on different people but for me, this just did not work.

Sorry, Sephora. You failed this one for me.

Pros of Sephora Outrageous Volume Mascara:

• Holds the curl
• Adds length
• Stays put for 6-7 hours
• Comes off easily with an eye make-up remover

Cons of Sephora Outrageous Volume Mascara:

• Flaky
• Clumps lashes
• No filter results in too much mascara on the brush
• Takes forever to dry
• More than one coat will result in glued lashes
• Not worth the price

Price : Rs. 1200

Would I buy this Sephora Outrageous Volume Dramatic Volume Mascara again?
