Sephora Rouge Infusion Lip Stain – Strawberry Tint #07
I love trying new products, new formulas. Anything long lasting – and I am intrigued. On a recent trip to Sephora, in Dubai, I came across these Rouge Infusion Lip Stains – being marketed and pushed rigorously by the Sephora Staff. I went to take a peek and swatched a couple on my hand. I was open to trying them – having read decent reviews about them on IMBB but didn’t remember which variant (product line) had been reviewed and there were quite a few to chose from. I was averse to trying them on my lips as I couldn’t see a disposable wand in sight and using the one wand, used by God knows how many people, was out of question. So I resisted buying any. Took a cleanser from them however, the stain of the swatches didn’t quite go from my hand – it was extremely prominent still. By 12 hours, when the stain was still going strong on my hands, I was intrigued! I had to pick one to try for myself. And that’s how I landed back in Sephora and picked one of the shades from the line.
The Product (from the Website):
A zero-texture lip stain that leaves the lips soft, bathing them in intense color.
What it does:
This must-have Lip Stain delivers intense color with no sticky residue. It provides buildable coverage for a natural, sophisticated, or glamorous look. The weightless formula leaves lips stained, soft, hydrated, and refreshed upon application.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates
Research results:
In a use test on 23 voluntary participants:
– 100% of women found the Rouge Infusion color to be intense
Suggested Usage:
-Apply directly to the lips.
-Start in the middle of the lips, and then gently spread product to the edge of the lips.
-To avoid getting the product on the skin around the lips during application, outline the lips with the universal lip liner first.
-For more intense color, apply three layers of Rouge Infusion onto the lips, waiting a few seconds between each application. For a softer effect, apply it just once.
Price:
US $14 / Dirhams 79 = INR 1350
Packaging:
The product comes in a liquid lipstick/gloss packaging with a small cap and the base reflects the name and the colour of the product. Assuming you had more than one of these, it would be extremely easy to identify in your stash.
The big plus is that it has a plastic tamper proof encasing – ensuring that your product reaches you in pristine condition.
My Experience with Sephora – Rouge Infusion Lip Stain – Strawberry Tint #07:
Color: The shade marketed as Strawberry tint is actually no where close to the Strawberry shade. The colour instead is a dusty rose with a hint of deep plum – which is a bit of a downer since I wasn’t really able to try the colour on my lips before selecting and the shade looked very different when swatched on the hand under the sparkling store lighting. It’s an easy to wear shade but a bit dull when you were expecting a more brighter strawberry shade. I believe that this shade would suit almost all skin tones and go well with simple eyes or a more dramatic eye look.
Texture: The texture is lightweight, creamy liquid – easy to apply with a wand. When applied, it looks even. However, even with no eating, in about half an hour the shade turns patchy and goopy in areas and which looks real bad. You have to apply 2-3 layers for it to last a decent time but even then it goes patchy and goopy in places.
Pigmentation: Pigmentation is decent. Single coat sufficient to cover lip pigmentation – it can be built up. I later read their claim online of 1 coat giving sheer coverage and 3 coats giving intense coverage. Had I read this prioe to picking it, I would have avoided the product – who would apply a product in 3 coats!!! Pls take a page out of Giorgio Armani’s book and then bring out a product in the market.
Staying Power: While the hand swatch stays put for 12hours plus. Unfortunately, we buy lip products for our lips and not hands. On the lips, it goes patchy in half an hour without eating anything or even drinking water. On eating, it disappears from certain areas and is glooppy on others – looks horrendous! Im glad its not a bright shade – would look even more horribly prominent.
Applicator – It’s a doe-foot applicator – easy to use and easy to apply the product evenly with.
