I never do regular facials at parlour. Only when there is a function, I go for it.  I feel that if you buy the same things, then you can do it yourself at home for a very lesser price, but the massage part is tricky. I know that it should be done by people who know how to do it well. So, when I got a girl who comes to my house and does facials, pedicures, waxing, etc., I was extremely happy. For a change, I can now wax peacefully at home. Good parlors like Lakme, L’Oreal etc., have separate rooms for each person and respect your privacy, but they are all pretty far from where I stay and ultimately I end up going to the ones near my house. They just have a curtain to shield me and many a times I end up displaying my hairy legs to complete stranger girls who look as shocked as me.  Okay, so back to the facial story. I bought this one, along with other basic stuff needed for facial and now I do regular facials at home and also ask the girl to give me a facial and massage using this cream.

Brand Claims:

Enhanced by precious plant ingredients and specialized techniques, this luxurious formula for normal to dry skin is the ultimate in skin nourishment. Designed to porcelain the skin, it improves moisture content and vitality, giving the skin a smooth youthful texture and radiant glow.

Shalife Plus

Directions For Use:

Apply on the face and massage on the skin with a few drops of water for three to five minutes, using outward and slightly upward strokes. Wipe off with moist cotton wool.

Rs. 355 for 35 grams.

Shelf Life:

3 years from manufacturing.

It smells exactly of Fevicol.  Yes, there is nothing soothing about the smell. It stays with you as long as you massage and only fades away once you wipe off the cream.

The texture of the cream is thick when you squeeze it out. If you do not add water to the cream, it is impossible to do a massage with this. It will feel like any normal skin cream and gets absorbed into the skin. But, in the instructions, they have advised to add few drops of water. Once you add water, it spreads easily on the skin and stays on the surface as a layer to give you a good massage experience. But, it gets absorbed into the skin pretty easily, and you need to keep on taking more cream. You just need to add a little bit of water and the cream becomes thin. It will not give you the feeling of a heavy thick layer of cream on your face.

The massage during facials, usually last 20 minutes at least. But for this cream, in the directions, they have asked to massage only for 3 to 5 minutes. When I do it myself, I do for around 5 minutes only and I feel that, it is enough to give me a good glow.  There is no need to wash the face with water once the massage is over. It feels like a face cream only and one just needs to wipe off any extra cream from the surface.  It does make my skin look a little oily though, but that happens with me after any massage.

After the massage, my skin has a glow to it and looks healthy.  There were no dry patches and my skin felt moisturized. I also felt that the elasticity of my skin increased and texture of the skin improved. Skin felt smooth and soft. Whenever I feel that my skin is looking dull, I now give a quick massage with this cream to get a fresh glow.

Once I asked the girl to give me a facial with this cream. I lied down, closed my eyes and relaxed and she started working on my face. In between, I heard her mentioning that this cream is good and it has good effects, etc.  Then, she asked me if I have extremely dry skin? I told no and asked her why? She told me that the cream is getting absorbed into the skin because my skin is very dry. I told that my skin is combination and again relaxed. Once she was done, I looked at the pack and to my horror, she used almost half of it in one go! When the skin was absorbing the cream, she was taking more and more cream and massaging it on to my face.  I was terribly afraid that it will break me out the next day, but thankfully it did not.

This is a good massage cream which will suit normal, dry or combination skin. It leaves you with young looking and glowing skin with just a few minutes of massage. However, if you are looking for a massage cream to massage for around half an hour, then this is not the one for you.

    1. Monika….I doubt though it sounds good….gel-based massage creams would be more appropriate….though Jismi could clarify further 🙂

      1. Thanks Monika. I am not sure about oily skin..bcs mine is not too oily. But this one did not break me out. And in the cover, they have written that it is for dry to normal. So i guess you should try another one that is meant for oily skin 🙂

    1. Yeah Aparajita..Shahnaz products are costly when compared to other brands. You should see some of her other ranges, they were even more costlier. 😐

  1. Sweety is that ur hand on which u massaged the cream in the pics above? If yes then believe me u hv dry skin… But nice product nd great that it worked 🙂

    1. Hi Leez, though my facial skin is very oily, the skin on my body is pretty dry and I have to use thick lotions and butter, so skin on the hands and the face can vary very significantly 🙂

      1. Oh thats possible kya? Grrr not fair having to tackle wid both the dry skin nd oily skin monster at the same tym.. Why cant everybdy hv normal skin nd live happily ever after…except the cosmetics compies maybe! 😉 😉

        1. He he…I know….I use oil-free products for the face, tea tree and stuff and use body butters even in this hot season….can’t do without it…..might have due to the geographical location I am staying at 🙂

        2. the skincare industry wud not wud they make all that money then!!!..:) they must be thrilled that women have so many problems..:)

          1. Hi Leez, its my hand only. Yeah, i have extremely dry skin on my hands and legs. 🙁 But thankfully face is not dry. 🙂

  2. Jismi,……I went to awesome salon yesterday and I realized how much difference it makes to get a facial done. The facial also included a partial body massage and it was total bliss!!!

    1. Great… Yeah, if the ambiance of the salon is good, then it makes such a huge difference 🙂 Now, even i want a relaxing facial.. 😛 I like how my nose shines after they remove all the blackheads and white heads 🙂

  3. Very detailed review Jismi..
I have never done any facials in my life.. I am just scared to try somethng on my face…

      1. Thanks Visakhi..You can safely try facial.. It is nothing more than cleansing, scrub, massaging and a face pack which you might be already doing 🙂

  4. Have this lying around on my rack for quite sometime :)…
Used only once or twice …got a under eye cream with this for a total of rs. 500
Have seen this being used in the parlour too…
    nice review Jismi!

      1. too lazy :p actually I was not getting my monthly facials done, thought of buying a massage cre…2 SH products for 500 looked tempting …so bought 🙂 ur review reminds me to use it now 🙂

  5. nice that it suited you!! for me SH never worked!! 🙁 too oily for my own good. As of facial.. more than what cream you use, its important to get the blood circulation up in ur facial skin. Moreso, if you do ur scrubbing/pack weekly routine at home also, i would still suggest to get down to a salon, and get basic massage done once a month.. a happy skin looks better with/without make up!!

    1. Thanks Shreya. Yeah, not all shahnaz products are great..Yes..the massage really brings out the glow in your face 🙂

  6. this one sounds good. I will purchase this one. I bought the Shahnaz H choco something face pack few weeks ago and am very happy with it so i will take a risk on this one now..thanks for the review.
