I moisturize my skin right after shower with a combination of body oil and body butter along with a moisturizer. I have been doing this for year now, and over the years my skin, has definitely become supple with a radiant glow to it. My skin is not as amazing as the kind of skin the models flaunt in print and tv advertisements, but still better than what I had to begin with. I use various kind of massage oils, and right now I am using this Shea Moisture African Water Mint and Ginger Detox Bath Body and Massage Oil.
This refreshing oil combines certified organic Shea Butter with African Water Mint & Ginger to rejuvenate skin with an invigorating scent.
My Experience with Shea Moisture African Water Mint and Ginger Detox Bath Body and Massage Oil:
The product comes in a clear plastic, slender bottle with a “press on” cap on top to dispense the product. The packing is sturdy, can stand upright in my medicine cabinet and is leak proof. It has a sticker on top that gives detailed product description, ingredient list and a brief story behind the brand.
Shea Moisture African Water Mint and Ginger Detox Bath Body and Massage Oil has a semi-thick serum/oil consistency but is more dense and viscous than usual massage oils which are more lube like to touch. It has a pleasant aroma of mint and ginger which is refreshing to senses. This fragrance combination sounded absurd to me at first, but I was pleased by its aroma and how it lingered on my skin for a good few hours. It also complements my other body perfumes and mist as well. The oil has a faint yellow tinge to it, but it does not stain skin or clothes at all. This massage oil contains the goodness of several oils such as sunflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, jojoba seed oil, shea butter, coconut oil and olive fruit oil.
This oil can be applied on skin as one pleases but I find it best to apply right after shower when the skin is still a little moist. It is hard to rub on to skin when the skin is completely dry, so I recommend applying it on lightly, towel-dried skin or as I prefer, mix it with a body lotion to make application easier and help skin absorb it better.
With prolonged use, I have noticed that my skin has become smoother and shiny. I particularly enjoy wearing this oil right after I remove my body hair using an epilator. After epilation, my skin swells, turns red and appears bruised. So. I need to soothe my skin with gentle massaging. This oil by Shea Moisture has proven particularly good for this purpose.
Pros of Shea Moisture African Water Mint and Ginger Detox Bath Body and Massage Oil:
- Affordable body oil, perfect for skin massage.
- Fascinating ingredients list, devoid of harsh chemicals.
- The product comes in a generous size bottle and is bound to last a while.
- A small amount of this product goes a long way.
- It does not make skin excessively greasy or oily and does not stain my clothes.
- Very pleasant aroma, goodness of several fruits and nut oils as well.
- Over prolonged use, it has made my skin smoother and shiny. It is a good addition to my skincare especially on days I epilate.
Cons of Shea Moisture African Water Mint and Ginger Detox Bath Body and Massage Oil:
- Very viscous compared to other body massage oils. So, it can be applied only to damp skin or when mixed with a lotion.
- Some might get clogged pores due to presence of nut oils.
