Of all the body scrubs that I have tried (I have used a lot of body scrubs from different brands), Shea Moisture Dragons Blood and Coffee Cherry Rebound and Revive Coffee Scrub has the most ingredients. I am an avid fan of body scrubs and I have tried body scrubs from several brands. I love them so much because after regular use, they have made my skin soft and shiny and I love how they make my skin feel. I have tried body scrubs with different exfoliating ingredients such as sugar, sea salt, coffee or just non-biodegradable micro beads and they all have their own set of pros and cons, but the scrub in this post contains coffee beans with a bunch of potent skincare ingredients and some interesting ones like Dragon’s Blood extract. My Experience with Shea Moisture Dragons Blood and Coffee Cherry Rebound and Revive Coffee Scrub:

This product comes a big tub – the kind which is common for all the body scrubs, except this one is bigger than most body scrub jars. It has a screw on lid and the tub has a wide mouth to scoop out product while in shower. To touch it feels like gritty coffee particles coated with a layer of oils. It smells of coffee and although it contains a bunch of other ingredients, the coffee bean smell masks the smell of everything else. I love the smell of this body scrub, it is very energizing and soothing to senses and feels extremely natural and homemade.

This body scrub contains coffee seed power, sweet almond oil, safflower seed oil and shea butter. These oils make the base of this body scrub which contains other essential oils and skincare extracts. The consistency of this product is different from most of the body scrubs I try. The consistency of all Shea Moisture scrubs is on the dry side. Most body scrubs have gritty particles mixed in a slippery base and that makes their application a little easier, but this scrub has the consistency of a homemade scrub and the particles are a little loose. To allow the particles to adhere to skin, it is essential to add a little water to the palm to dampen our body prior to application. Another way to make application easier is applying a body oil on skin first.

The fragrance of this product is very pleasing and is a selling point of this product, especially for those who are avid coffee drinkers. I use it after epilating my legs. This scrub helps to exfoliate legs, unclog pores and combat cellulite. I used to apply body scrubs before epilating and not after because my legs would be all bruised, but now I dry brush before epilating that prevents bruising and then I use body scrubs to smoothen my legs.

Apart from the day I epilate, I apply glycolic acid toner on my body to prevent ingrown hair and bumps. I massage a generous amount of this scrub while mixing it with burning hot water (I prefer scalding hot water for my shower). I do the scrubbing for a good few minutes to open my pores and wash it off with, again burning hot water. This also makes my skin smoother, prevents hair stubble or bruises. I try to use body scrubs daily, especially on my legs to avoid ingrown hair and “strawberry” appearance of my legs. I like this scrub and is as good as most body scrubs I try, especially because coffee can fight cellulite as well. The downside is that since it is so dry a lot of product just falls right off skin and gets wasted, also coffee powder does make a mess in my shower area and needs cleaning after itself.

Cons of Shea Moisture Dragons Blood and Coffee Cherry Rebound and Revive Coffee Scrub:

• The coffee particles are not in a slippery base hence the scrub can be used only on damp skin or when mixed with another carrier oil.
• Because it is dry, a lot of particles fall right off the skin and get wasted.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Shea Moisture Dragons Blood and Coffee Cherry Rebound and Revive Coffee Scrub?
The aroma of this body scrub is energizing and makes a good addition to my shower routine. I love the overall performance of this scrub and found it as abrasive as I desire a body scrub to be but a bit too dry and a lot of product gets wasted. It also combats cellulite and I do recommend it to others.
