Shiseido Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream Review

I had received a sample-sized pack of this Shiseido Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream, which I used it every night, for nearly a month, and was impressed by its performance, so decided to buy it in full-size. Thanks to IMBB, I got to indulge in this luxury. I am in my late 20s and I feel that now my skin needs extra TLC and attention. For sensitive areas like eyes I do go out of my way to try out more expensive products with potent ingredients. This is my first product by Shiseido and enjoyed it a lot and will try to test and review more products by this brand in future as well. I bought this eye cream as in my late 20s and my skin has acquired special needs and is longing for extra care products. I feel no shame about my age or changes in my skin’s texture or its enhanced need for extra care. These reasons and my passion (read tendency to hoard) skin care products made me explore some Korean and Japanese skin care brands and the eye cream in this article is part of one such haul of Asian beauty brands.

My Experience with Shiseido Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream:

This eye cream from Shiseido comes in a tube packaging which holds 15 ml of product. There is nothing unique about the packaging but it serves its purpose well. It has a nozzle to dispense a pea-sized amount which is sufficient for one-time use.

Skin care industry is a little overwhelming these days and each brand offers what other brands claim to offer. Some skin care products, especially the one by the Korean brands have absurd and esoteric ingredients and require mild reading to know more about their benefits and side effects and most importantly, know how ingredients that should not be used together. This product contains “PhytoResist Complex” – not sure what that means, but evidently it helps to protect surface cells from environmental stressors – UV rays and air pollutants. It contains Vitamin E Acetate and Houttuynia Cordata Extract, again very complex-sounding ingredients but they are essential to minimize puffiness and support natural cellular metabolism. Houttuynia Cordata Extract is also known as Bishop’s Weed and is native to Japan and can cure allergies and other ailments. It contains Lempuyang Extract also known as Zingiber zerumbet which is a potent whitening agent and diminishes the appearance of circles and dullness. And finally contains Inner-Derm Light Enhancing Powder which reflects red light to increase vibrancy and counteract darkness.

This product comes in a decent size tube and will last at least a couple of months. It is viscous to touch, spreadable, and gets easily absorbed into the skin. I have been applying it every night as part of my night-skin care routine and also use it underneath my makeup. It has a pink tint and that might work for fair-skinned people, but on my skin tone, it appears greyish, but it is not a big concern for me because I use color corrector under my base makeup.

This cream is perfect for sleep-deprived people. It reduces puffiness and dark circles that appear due to lack of sleep and rest. The under-eye area does appear brighter and also it fares well underneath the makeup – no creasing. It maintains the smooth, delicate skin under the eyes and preserves its youthful appearance. I really like this product and the ingredients it contains and do recommend it to others. It does not irritate my eyes or make them tear up during application.
