Shiseido Integrate Gracy Lip Liners Review

Hi guys!

Spring is here in Tokyo and so I am very excited! 🙂 I am on a lip liner craze right now, all I want to wear is lip liner with lip balm. I picked up 2 liners from Shiseido’s Integrate Gracy. I wasn’t impressed with their eye liners but was hoping not to be disappointed with the lip liners. Let’s see how they did.

Made in: Japan

My Experience With Shiseido Integrate Gracy Lip Liners:

Packaging: The liners come housed in a plastic sheet, and are pencil format with clear lids on them. The lids have not come off loose anytime, and they seem to grip the pencil well. Since it is a pencil, you have to keep sharpening it to get the product out. But this works out as an advantage, since you are removing that layer of bacteria regularly. The only complaint I have about is the colour naming. Some seem to not at all be the shade written which are quite misleading. You have to swatch before you buy. Come on Japan, get with it.

Shades: The rose liner is not rose at all; it is a berry plum colour. When built up, it can look very deep plum. It is beautiful and I like the fact that I can build up the colour to the intensity I want.
The red liner is a warm, rich red, but it is much lighter in intensity when compared to the plum shade. I feel it is the kind of red which flatter a huge variety of skin tones. It can also be built to be a deep red. Both shades are very beautiful and will make great bases for bold lipsticks.

Pigmentation: Both pencils have good colour payoff; they are one-swipe pigmentation. Both shades can be built up to increase intensity. Also both of them leave a stain behind. My liner swatches on my hands lasted a good 1.5 to 2 days.

Blendability/Transfer: It blends well but needs a moisturizing lip base to glide on well. After it is on, it is easy to spread out this way. Since it is drying on its own, I strongly recommend a lip base underneath to provide moisture. The colour does transfer but does not lose its intensity.

Longetivity: It disappears first on the inner parts of the lips and so gives you the not-flattering lip liner look. But since it stains the lips, the stain will still remain all throughout the lips. I don’t like reapplying the pencil at this point, I just put a lipstick or lip gloss on the inside of the lips and spread it out. Doing so essentially gives you a new lip colour. This is what works for me.

Does it settle into lip lines?

No, it does not. When sheered out or applied full colour, the product does not settle into lip lines or exaggerate them at all.

Use: It has become my go-to product to create custom colours, because I have a few lighter shade lipsticks. This darkens them up and makes them very wearable.

Scent: All lip liners from the company are unscented.

Pros of Shiseido Integrate Gracy Lip Liners:

  • Great pigmentation.
  • Blends well (provided there is good lip base).
  • Very beautiful and intense shades.
  • All lip liners are unscented.

Cons of Shiseido Integrate Gracy Lip Liners:

  • Drying on its own.
  • Needs a moisturising lip base underneath.
  • Colour names are misleading. Transfers.

IMBB Rating: 3.75/5

  1. I know what you mean with misleading shade names, I have seen many lip products that in addition to misleading shade names have misleading colour photos too and when you open the tester product you’re like WHAT? Specially few of the Maybelline ones here are too tricky.. 🙁

These look promising on the pigmentation factor though, shall try out soon! Great review! 🙂
