Though I have oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin, I picked up this hydrating mask from Shiseido because I had a recent bout of acne and the dermatologist prescribed me topical ointments which made my skin very dry, and since it is winters now, my skin became parched. I was checking out the hydrating mask at Elizabeth Arden counter and that’s when the SA at Shiseido conveyed through her smile that she had something better. The stuff at Shiseido is pretty costly, so I made sure this mask would not break out my acne-prone skin while taking care of the dryness caused by acne ointments. Here’s the detailed review for you so that you can make a choice.
A relaxing treatment mask that pampers skin as it increases moisture balance. Excellent for all skin types. Infuses skin with concentrated hydrating and relaxing benefits. My Take on Shiseido The Skincare Moisture Relaxing Mask:
Shiseido has some amazing skin care stuff and I would like to try them all – they are on the expensive side though 😛 As mentioned earlier in the post, I was looking for a hydrating mask for my skin at the time I picked this up. This luxurious gel-creamy white mask comes in a thick and sturdy glass bottle. Its a pretty small tub with 50 ml of product. Since its a cream-based mask, it spreads smoothly on to the skin and does not feel heavy or greasy.
You have to use this mask on thoroughly cleansed skin and should be generously massaged into the skin in circular motions. Though, they have asked to keep the mask for only 2 to 3 minutes, I allow it to remain on the face for 15 to 20 minutes because it does not feel oily or greasy. Since the mask is creamy in texture, it does not dry off and has to be either rinsed or wiped with a tissue. I use a tissue to wipe off the mask because as mentioned earlier, its not greasy or thick and I do not fear that it would cause breakouts on the skin. I usually use it at night and wake up with soft skin in the morning.
When I had started using this relaxing mask, I had very dry skin because of all the harsh topical ointments and any other day cream/face pack caused a stinging sensation on my face (even the TBS tea tree face pack). When I smoothed this face mask on such a skin type, it provided immediate relief by soothing irritated and dry skin, providing the skin with much-needed hydration, and clearing off stretchy dry patches. The best thing is that the result is almost instant – it takes care of all of the winter skin care woes.
Even after wiping it off, skin remains hydrated throughout the day or night until the next wash, of course if a harsh soap or face wash is used, the effects vanish. Its like getting a facial done, which imparts a temporary glow that lasts until the next wash.
Rinsing it off is good, but if you use a face wash, you would not see much.
From my experience, it is extremely good for all skin types, excellent for dry, very dry, irritated skin types because it has hydrating, moisturizing and soothing properties.
It does not add any glow per se, but you can feel the suppleness in your skin texture immediately. I have used it quite a few times and my skin is not irritated anymore. If you have liked Clinique’s Moisture Surge Moisturizer, then this one is on similar lines, but does a lot more than that and improves your skin condition with regular use.
I am very impressed with this one and want to try masks from Shiseido now 🙂
