Shoes all the way…….
The Chinese are known to bind their feet when young… sadly, neither did my parents do that to me, nor did it strike me!
It is said that Asian women with small feet and big eyes are pretty.. 🙂
I have conveniently managed to dodge both the requirements to be a pretty girl, I wont say I’m tall, but, at 5 feet 8 and with shoulders broader than Shahid Kapoor (thanks to years of swimming), I managed to dodge the consolation prize too.. and I easily manage to get acceptance into the ogre category!
Believe me, I’m fondly known as Fiona in my circle of friends, also known as ogre foot to people who don’t happen to be afraid of me (read my brother).
My mum claims that I’ve been a shoe loving girl since I was 1 and a half years old..’
I don’t know how true that is.. but growing up.. I remember being an outcast as long as footwear was concerned! Nothing ever fit me. Nothing pretty at least.
Just in case all my stars worked together with some good luck, and something pretty came close to fitting me.. I would grow out of it before the second time I wore it.. sometimes, even the first.. this was why I never had a collection of pretty footwear all along..
Now that I’m 21, and my feet have decided to stop growing any further.. 🙂 I have all the happiness I craved for as a kid.. to have a decent collection of shoes.. 🙂
Mind you.. most of the things don’t fit me even now.. and hence I usually stock up on more shoes of the same kind..
I have around 41 pairs to share today (around 49 otherwise).. and I love each one of them to death! They fit me (some with struggle) and I bought them from all random places including commercial street (Bangalore), general bazaar (Hyderabad) and FC (Pune). I never in my wildest dreams imagined to buy footwear from these places because the shopkeepers would take 1 look at my feet and smile at me.. 😛
So without much ado.. I want to share with you all my prized possessions
They make me happy.. 😛
These are divided into categories:
• Random casual slip-ons
I wear used to wear these all the time earlier.. but I choose not to wear them in this rainy season. These are mostly Rs100/200 chappals.. oh and the Osho chappals are 50 bucks each!!
• Casual rubber flip-flops
I swear, I dint flick them from my brother.. These colourful rubber flip-flops are perfect for this season.. I am guilty of teaming these with shorts and tees and walking proudly into Secunderabad club, Firangi Paani, Shoppers Stop, GVK1, airport Prasads, PVR etc.. Only my local sports bar people seem to love me even in these! 🙂
• Pretty ballerinas
These I would say are the most underestimated shoes ever!! (I’m talking about the rubberish Bata ballerinas). I bought the blue ones in Bangalore because I dint have anything comfortable to walk around in.. I had shoe bites.. 🙁 but it looked so prettyyy!!!! My friend and mum have the grey coloured ones and they even wore it with some salwar kameez and it looked fab!!
Well the colours I own, and with almost no salwar kameez in my wardrobe.. I team them up with jeans.. Leggings.. Skirts and even summer/ shift dresses.. the black ones are cute with a bow detailing..(Catwalk) is casual/ formal..
and the red ones are closed toe but not ballerinas..:-P catwalk too..
• The ‘I don’t know what’ category
The only casual peep-toe I own – from puma.. I wear the maroon one with traditional/ sometimes casual outfits.. the white ones I rarely wear.. they are heeled.. the pink ones are kind of gladiator sandals.. (own too many pinks) and my only pair of silver chappal! 🙂
• Ethnic/ casual
• Party shoes
I dint know I still had the silver sequined slip on still.. 😛 I own pumps mostly.. don’t wear these often.. (I walk around in chappals everywhere).. but I see them everyday.. say hi and all.. 🙂 🙂 looovveee them!!
I’ve worn these so little..cousins wedding, friends bachelorette, for my design jury for a date , for some random dance night.. all only once).
The black pumps and the lavender (looks grey) peep toes I got before Rakhi.. So got chocolates for Rakhi 😛
These were there in my room.. don’t wear these too often.. wear the shoe when I need to slip on a sports shoe quickly..
I have 3 other pairs of sports shoes, 2 from Adidas( navy blue and black) and 1 from Reebok (its green blue and white). 🙂
I own a pair of grey coloured ACGs from Nike.. (above- bluish grey, from Reebok)
I also own 3 pairs of rocksters in navy blue with white polka dots, plain sky blue and orange. And a pair of pink slippers with black polka dots.
Those are all lying in the family shoe rack outside so couldn’t get them,,
Hope you liked my collection 🙂
Oh and even today, when I go to buy my favourite pair of Nike ACGs, the salesman still says.. ‘madam gents section mein dekhlo’.. 😛
