Aruna R. asks:
Hi,
I will be in Mumbai next week and I wanted some suggestions on some shopping I plan to do.
· Clothes – Formal shirts – I don’t mind the 300, 400 bucks types Exports type quality. Heard Linking Road has some good shops. Any specific shop names would help a great deal.
· Cosmetics/Skincare – Kryolan for cosmetics and Vichy for skincare are on top of my mind. Vichy is available in Hyderabad as well but I thought I should pick it up there since I was shopping anyways. Any recommendations for Normal to Combination skin would be most useful. Anything else that is a must buy from Mumbai?
· Chappals/Shoes –I am ok with the 150/200 bucks price range street side shopping since I don’t get to do any of that in Hyderabad
Anything around the Bandra, Vile Parle, Malad, Versova area would be perfect since those areas are easily accessible from where I will be living.
Thanks in advance!!

Hey Aru absolutely no help in advincing you as I have never once been to mumbai, but you have fun and waiting for a huge haul post once you are back! Happy shopping Aru!
Thanks Sandhya..I will surely do that. I know irrespective of whether i get any recommendations I bet i will shop..if not a huge haul, some fun stuff at least..maybe I can combine it with some other recent purchases and share it with you guys..:)
Aru….Colaba Causeway it seems….have heard a lot about it from our readers 🙂
Yaa Jomol u r right.. Colaba Causeway is also a great option.. they stock trendy jewellery and knick knacks for your home…not much of clothes and shoes there though!
yes..colaba causeway might be good..Leopold’s is right there too :)..
Aru, you must not miss Colaba Causeway! It is haven if you love street shopping and picking up nice shades, jewelry – really funky stuff. Inorbit has a MUFE store as well I think 🙂
BTW, Aru….bought TBS Blue Corn mask…..he he 🙂
u did??? wow..oh no i forgot abt it..abhi woh bhi khareedna padega but you tell me how it is working for you then i’ll buy..i can hold off on that for some time I hope..
Its good Aru…..scrub, pack all in one…..I just tried it once today, will tell you in detail how it works 🙂
Hey Aru.. Yeah you can check out Linking road where u can get clothes and shoes.. loads of variety and really reasonable.. Although quality is strictly ok..But then as u said u wouldnt mind then u should definitely check it out.. there are no particular shops there… just lots of stalls… dont forget to bargain…For Vichy products u can check out Inorbit Mall Malad and theres a Krylon store in Andheri… Also do check out the Beauty Center Kandivali… they have all kinds of cosmetics and skincare items…
Thank you Richa……I will note these down when I visit Mumbai…..I will go to these places 🙂
ok ok..inorbit mall Malad seems very doable..and andheri is also perfect..thanks so much..i am definitely going to Linking road. A friend of mine mentioned a shop where they sell those Exports things..she’s buying for her kids but there might be an ‘adults’ section too hopefully.
Which shop ?
let me find out and tell u..do check back into this article maybe tomorrow afternoon. shall try and get more details by then.
Hey I live at Mumbai
For clothes- I think Bandra linking road is a great place! There you’ll find enough shops! Even lokhandwala is great for shopping! Very good and reasonable..that’s all for less expensive items!
For sandals/shoes- your budget is very low..so I think you can only pick up stuff from Irla, lokhandwala or Bandra..streets!
For makeup- go to Alfa at Irla for normal drugstore cosmetics like Vichy! You’ll find everything you need! You can get all types of hair products/perfumes which are branded at a very low price!
Then again you have these shops :-
New Beauty centre at Khar- Plot number 751, swami vivekanand road, next to Rajasthan Restaurant, SV road, khar (west), Mumbai. VERY VERY famous store here!
The beauty bar ( This is for all high end cosmetics and almost all brands which aren’t available in India are available here at a low price & they have free home delivery too! Anywhere in the city! Very very good place!! Must visit!) — Shop no 8, Red Rose apartments, next to Sab TV office, Off link road, Before fame adlabs, Lokhandwala, Mumbai.
Beautiful store (again all cosmetics which you wouldn’t even think of finding in India are available here! Must visit, too) — 1, Pooja apartment, Plot number 613, 17th road, khar, Mumbai.
NOTE:- there is a website for the beauty bar & you can order online only in Mumbai- http://www.thebeautybar.in.
Alfa is a very good store..must visit if you’re coming to Mumbai
how coool Angela. Thanks sooo very much. Its such a fabulous list. Thanks for your interest and patience in putting this info for me.. I think I will most definitely visit ‘The Beauty Bar’ and Linking road. I shall bookmark this page and check it once before I leave for my shopping.
Thanks again..

Sure 😉 I’m glad 😀
Bombay is a great place to shop..that’s only if you know the whereabouts here 😉
Have a fantastic stay 😉
aru cause way is a heaven for jewlry.like f21 bargain a lot.i ended up spendng upper thousands.nearly a 5 figured amount ourchasin books antques clothes nd jewlry at causeway
Just a correction
Inorbit mall HAD Mufe. They don’t anymore.
Colaba is pretty good..& there’s this place called Hirapanna (excuse me if I’ve made a spelling error) which is extremely good too! They get bags from Louis Vuitton also for very less price & all high end brands..some things which are available here, I haven’t seen anywhere, even for cosmetics.!
Phoenix Marketcity at Kurla has a Kiehl’s store, in case you were looking for it
Infiniti 2- honestly my favourite mall ever! <3<3 because its not that far away + it has all the brands in India! I normally buy stuff from there only cuz I don't like street shopping much
Palladium at Lower Parel- it's the most heavenly mall.! It has Chanel, Armani, Jimmy Choo and similar luxury brands! It's apparently the best mall in Bombay. So if you're going to that area, visit it..since I think you'd like to buy something from Chanel.
Hey Aruna, for clothes, you can go to Fendi (reasonably priced good stuff), khodal and such shops @ Hill road, Bandra, Landmark – Globus. You can also find footwear/jewellery and practically every girlie stuff around here. Insiders tip: dont forget to bargain (except fendi) 😛
Colaba causeway has some awesome stuff, but would be far for you since you would be in the suburbs.. But you should visit Colaba causeway if you have time.
Enjoy your trip to my lovely city and do post about your shopping haul !!!!! 😀
Linking road, colaba causeway, alfa center and inorbit mall 😀 😀 😀 😀
Which one is better? the crawford market wala beauty centre or the Oshiwara one ?I want to buy cosmetics for my sis’s wedding and I am going specially to mumbai to buy cosmetics (Kryolan and so much other stuff).
The SA’s are better where ? i want to get the perfect shades this time !! Every time the SA’s make me buy a wrong shade 🙁
Also which is the best time to visiton sat-sun? early morning as soon as the shop opens or afternoon ?
Please guide me beautiful ladies !
beauty centre at khar is good
