Shu Uemura Glow On Blush – P Medium Coral 366 Review

Shu Uemura Glow On Blush – P Medium Coral 366 Review

I wish I were like the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four, calling his powers to life with a catchphrase, but instead of saying “flame on!,” I would shout “glow on!” to bring a gorgeous glow to my skin whenever needed. Ha. Excuse my corniness while I laugh at my own joke, but yes, this is about a Shu Uemura Glow On.  I have the shade P Medium Coral 366.

My Take on Shu Uemura Glow On Blush – P Medium Coral 366:

P Medium Coral 366 is more pink than coral. On my medium, yellow skin tone (MAC NC 30-35), it appears a warm, coral pink with silver microshimmers that give it a pearly sheen. It’s not a unique shade by any means, but it’s pretty and face-brightening. The shimmer isn’t very noticeable; instead it gives a subtle glow to the skin.  I like how this blush looks on me, and it’s alright for daytime-wear and goes with most lipsticks.

However, I’m not loving the texture of it. It feels dry and somewhat hard in the pan.  Also, I find it hard to achieve the degree of color that I want with this blush. It’s kind of chalky. When I swipe my brush on it once or twice, I get barely enough color. So, I swipe my brush some more on the pan, and more often than not, end up over applying. When this product is over-applied, it tends to look like it’s sitting on top of my skin. I then need to buff it in to blend it into my skin and make it look more natural.  I have tried using a regular blush brush and a duo-fiber blush to apply it.  But the good news is, once it’s properly blended, it looks nice; the color looks fresh.

The P Medium Coral 366 Glow On also lasts long on my skin, several hours for me even in humid weather. It doesn’t oxidize and remains pretty vibrant throughout the day.

This Shu Uemura Glow On is in the old packaging. For the new packaging, the pan alone is sold as a refill, and the compact is sold separately, available in different sizes and able to store Shu Uemura Glow Ons and eyeshadows. I like that the packaging is transparent and quickly lets you see the color of the product inside.

Pros of Shu Uemura Glow On Blush – P Medium Coral 366:

  • The color is pretty and looks fresh.
  • It is not shimmery, instead it gives a subtle glow.
  • It’s long-lasting on my skin.
  • It’s sheer but buildable.
  • The packaging lets you see the color of the product inside.
  • It’s not too expensive.

Cons of Shu Uemura Glow On Blush – P Medium Coral 366:

  • I find it hard to build up to just the right amount of color.
  • The color is a bit chalky.
  • The texture is on the dry side and the powder is hard in the pan.

Would I Repurchase Shu Uemura Glow On Blush – P Medium Coral 366?

No, however, I am still interested in trying the other shades of Glow Ons, particularly the matte finishes, perhaps the texture/formula will be different.

IMBB Rating:

2.5/5

Overall Recommendation:

The color of the Shu Uemura Glow On in P Medium Coral 366 is pretty and should suit most light to medium skin tones. It gives a nice glow to the skin, but I find that its formula isn’t easy to work with and I’m not entirely sure it’s worth the effort.
