Sigma F37 Spotlight Duster Brush Review

Hello gorgeous gals,

Sigma recently introduced a couple of new brushes into their line. Both the brushes that are meant for highlighter application, may seem strange to a makeup newbie, but if you are a true makeup junkie, and have seen the plethora of highlighters being flooded into the market from every other brand, including highlighting palettes, you will not be surprised by these new releases from Sigma! So, let’s find out about these new products. Today, I will be reviewing the Sigma Spotlight Duster F37.

My Experience with Sigma F37 Spotlight Duster Brush:

This brush is made from SigmaTech Fibers – “Sigma Beauty’s exclusive selection of high performance synthetic fibers engineered to outperform traditional animal hair.” From the look and feel of the brush, you definitely cannot make out that these aren’t natural hair. The brush is extremely soft and feels high quality. It isn’t the softest brush that I have come across, I’m talking about the Japanese brushes right now, but I guess it would not be fair to compare it to the natural hair Japanese brushes, which are in a totally different league.

I picked this brush because of its unique shape. It’s got a fairly long head, which tapers at the end, but not sharply like the F35. Also, it’s quite a big brush, considering it’s meant for highlighting. As per Sigma, the idea for creating this brush was to provide an “airy application” of highlighter – meaning a more diffused highlighting than what other typical highlighting brushes offer – like the Sigma F35 or the fan brush.

While I was checking the brushes in store, the SA actually mentioned that this worked well for contouring. I was anyway on the lookout for a new contouring brush. I generally use the NARS Ita brush for this purpose, which tends to provide a quite sharp contouring, and I wanted to experiment with a more diffused and softer contour. So, I picked this brush, actually picked two of them (one for a friend).

I find the brush very interesting because despite the long length of fibres, the softness of the bristles, the fact that it isn’t very densely packed, it does not go floppy. On the contrary, the brushes hold their own and have sufficient give for an airy application. The brushes feels really really soft against the skin.

I have tried it for contouring, applying blush and for highlighting – it has worked well for all 3 applications giving a very diffused result. The tapered yet soft head ensures that the product is applied lightly but not all over the place. It is restricted to the area of application.

I have even used it to apply setting powder under the eyes, on the entire face and even used it for finishing powder. It works very well for that too.

And in case it makes any difference to you – it is “Made in China!”

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Sigma F37 Spotlight Duster Brush:

  • Lightweight.
  • Quite a multi-tasker.
  • Works well for airy application of highlighter/blush/contour.
  • Works well for setting powder/finishing powder.
  • Cruelty free.
  • Synthetic fibres.
  • Extremely soft.

Cons of Sigma F37 Spotlight Duster Brush:

  • Can’t think of any.

IMBB Rating:
4.5/5

I think this is a gem of a multi-purpose brush. If you are on the lookout for a brush for any of these applications, trust me, look no further. This one really is a Jack of all trades. I am currently traveling and this is the only face brush I am carrying with me (apart from a powder foundation brush).
