My Experience with Sigma F40 Large Angled Contour Brush – Bunny Blue:

Sigma Brushes are considered to be one of the best in the market. These are professional brushes and popular among makeup artists. Sigma primarily makes brushes, however they have other makeup products to offer as well. The “Sigma Wicked Gel Eyeliner” is one of their bestsellers.

Surprisingly, these brushes are very decently priced. The price and quality of these brushes are comparable to those from Real Techniques. What is amazing about Sigma Brushes is that they have so many brushes for various different uses.

All of the Sigma brushes are coded by a unique alphanumeric code and identified so. There were so many brushes for contouring and I chose the F40 brush. It’s one of their bestsellers. I already have the Morphe G30 (reviewed previously) for precise application of contour products. I wanted something for a more blended and diffused look, hence the Sigma F40. I had the option to choose the colour of the brush from among black, sparkle black, bunny blue and copper. I found this so cool! I chose the “Bunny Blue” one. Since most of my brushes have a black handle, the blue colour would make it easily identifiable. The Bristles colour is natural white.

The brush is a full length brush with a curved end. It comes with synthetic bristles which are densely packed and very flexible. It has a regular wooden dark grey/ black ferrule. The handle is a bit thick which makes it a little inconvenient. The brush feels quite sturdy in the hand. The code “F40” is printed in rainbow colour – I guess this might get rubbed off over a period of time.

The shape of the F40 Brush is very well thought of and advantageous to the purpose of contouring of the face. The bristles form a curvy shape at the top. This makes it easy to fit in the hollows of the cheeks easily.

The brush needs to be placed at an angle below the cheekbones and should be blended across towards the corners of the mouth. The brush feels easy to use and the result is a well-blended contoured look. Similarly, it can be used to contour the cheek bones and sides of the forehead. A very light hand is needed to contour the nose, since the brush is a wide one. I would suggest a little less wider brush for beginners.

The Sigma F40 brush works best with powder products. Won’t work well with cream, since the bristles are not very precise as such.

Since the brush has a curvy tapered edge on one side, it also works well to apply blush on the cheeks. I have washed it once and no shedding of the bristles was noted.

Overall, it is a fabulous brush in terms of the utility and it is of superb quality and affordability. Since the quality is amazing, it will last for many years. Hence, it’s kind of worth the investment.
