My Take on SK-II Facial Treatment  UV Protection Lotion SPF 25 PA++:

I know many of you out there skip sunscreen even though you are fully aware of the benefits of applying sunscreen and also of the implications of skipping sunscreen every time you step out in the sun. We all know that sunscreen is “the” most important product in skin care routine and most of us choose to give it a miss for these reasons: Sunscreens leave a garishly white cast on the skin.  2.  They cause breakouts.  3.  They feel heavy and grease up the skin. Believe me, I do the same most of the times, and you can evidently see the damage that has happened because of skipping sunscreen – I have sun-damaged skin and blotchy complexion 😛 No sunscreen has proved to be “too good” for me.  So, when I got to an opportunity to pick SK-II products for IMBB, I picked not one but two sunscreens – one in lotion form and another one in cream form.

Face lotion

Today, I am gonna talk about SK-II Facial Treatment UV Protection Lotion SPF 25 PA++.

Talking about the packaging, the milky white sunscreen lotion comes in a 30 ml bottle with a pump dispenser that squirts out tiny amounts.  I need more than a pea-sized for application each time. It’s extremely lightweight in texture and does not feel heavy on the skin, blends in easily without much effort.  It’s a silky and non-greasy lotion that does not take down makeup with it after a few hours.

As with all sunscreens, you need to apply it at least 10 minutes before stepping out in the sun. You can layer on foundation and makeup after about 2 minutes of application.  It acts as a good moisturizer and I don’t need a separate moisturizer in this hot weather.

The best thing about this sunscreen is that it contains the much-hyped pitera complex which is a potent skin care ingredient. Also, it does not leave any whitish cast behind. With regular use, it makes skin smooth and supple.  It also washes off really easily from the skin.

What they claim about it being a perfect makeup base is also true, my makeup glides on smoothly on this sunscreen. It does not do anything to clear pigmentation or even out skin tone, but it does not claim that either.

UV protection lotion

I think it’s a very good sunscreen for oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin.  It’s good for dry skin too. I am mentioning oily skin and acne-prone skin because it does not cause any breakouts and does not clog any pores.  It lets the skin breathe. But there are some other factors that pulls it back from being the “perfect” sunscreen.

daytime lotion

It goes without mentioning that price is a deterrent – you can probably get 25 PA++ sunscreen lotion with better ingredients at a much lower price.  Take into account the quantity as well, only 30 ml! That would probably last for just one-and-half month max and not more.  Third and most important thing, SPF 25 is not enough for Indian summers. Right now, under the harsh sun, you should pick up a sun block with at least SPF 50.  Also, you can get up to 2.5 hours of protection with it, not more than that I guess.

Talking about the effectiveness in protecting against tan, right now, in the current harsh weather, I do not feel confident enough to go out with just SPF 25 on my skin.  When I have just this sunscreen on, I cover up my face with a scarf. I bet it would prevent tan and sun damage in moderate climatic conditions, but I think it’s incapable of doing so right now.

Sunscreen lotion

The texture and consistency of the sunscreen makes it one of my favorite, but I would not repurchase such an expensive sunscreen with only SPF 25!
