Sleek Makeup i-Divine Mineral Based Primer Palette Review

By Abbyramy

Hello Everyone!

This is my first makeup post on IMBB and I am very excited to be doing this review for you all! I am no stranger to Sleek Makeup because I have been using their products for a while. I have items ranging from their foundations to their lip paints and I find them great because all the products are versatile and pretty affordable.  My review today will be on the Sleek I-Divine Primer Palette. I bought this primer palette a while back and didn’t really start using it until recently.

The eye shadows come in the signature black case and I love their packaging because it is light and of a suitable size, so you can easily put it in your bag or clutch when you are on the go and use it for touch ups.  The palette contains 12 colours, as do all Sleek eyeshadow palettes, and there are a range of shades. It also comes with a double-ended eye shadow application brush, which I no longer have because I tend to use my own brushes.

Product Description:

A palette of 12 coloured eye primers perfectly designed to use with all sleek Makeup I-Divine Palettes. Long lasting and specially designed to breathe a new lease of life into your eyeshadows.

Ingredients:

Mica, Talc, Kaolin, Magnesium, Stearate Dimethicone, Paraffinum Liquid, EthylhexylPalmitate, Propylparaben and Methylparaben, +/- [CI77510, CI 77289, CI 77491, ,CI 77492]. Suitable for vegetarians. Not suitable for vegans.
Price- £7.99 (UK).

My Take on Sleek Makeup i-Divine Mineral Based Primer Palette:

I think that this palette is a perfect mix of creamy, fairly pigmented shades and I think it would have been perfect as a cream eye shadows palette.  However, it is a primer palette and to be honest, I didn’t see much change in the colour of my eyeshadows or the lasting power of the eye shadows.  It was easy to blend and applied easily on the eyelids, but if you have oily eyelids like I do, it doesn’t stay on the eyelids for long and gradually looks a little greasy.

I decided to use the eye primer with some eye shadows that I have, which are not Sleek eyeshadows. I wanted to see whether this product was diverse enough to be used with different eye shadows, rather than just the Sleek brand eye shadows.  I found that, to be honest, the primer doesn’t really make much of a difference to the eye shadow colour. It looks the same with and without primer!

As well as this, the shades are quite pigmented, especially the darker shades like ultraviolet and noir, but the lighter shades are not very pigmented at all – I had to use a few layers to get any colour.  The fact that it smudges is quite a good thing, but it can also be a very messy product if you are not careful!  Another thing that I noticed is that it has a bit of shimmer in it, so it is perhaps not the best thing to use under matte eye shadows.

Oh and please excuse the little fingerprints and smudges in the eye shadows! I have been playing around with the colours and trying to create some good looks. Here are the eye shadow swatches:

(From Left to Right):

Moonshine, calypso, ultraviolet, daredevil, pink frost, silver lining.

Pros of Sleek Makeup i-Divine Mineral Based Primer Palette:

  • Darker shades are quite pigmented.
  • Easy to blend.
  • Creamy and light in texture.
  • Affordable.
  • No fallout.

Cons of Sleek Makeup i-Divine Mineral Based Primer Palette:

  • Lighter shades are not very pigmented.
  • Does not last long on oily eyelids.
  • Does not improve lasting power of eyeshadows.
  • Does not improve colour intensity of eyeshadows.
  • Colour is easily lost when blended.
  • Not easily available in countries such as US.

Another big problem I found is that the labels which came with the eye shadow primers do not match with the eyeshadows, in fact they are all mixed up, which is extremely confusing! For example, the shade next to the black was titled “Noir” and the black was titled “Money Honey!” I am not sure if it was a mistake or whether this was deliberate, but I managed to find a website which listed the shades in the right colours and so I have labelled the shades with the right colours in this post.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5

Would I Repurchase Sleek Makeup i-Divine Mineral Based Primer Palette?

No, I would spend my money on high-end primers such as Urban Decay Primer Potion, because it is a lot more worth it!

However, if you are stuck with the primer palette and don’t know what to do with it, it can perhaps be used as gel eyeliner or used to create other looks (I can show them in a separate post if you would like).

Thank you all, I hope you liked my review and please feel free to leave some comments and suggestions!

  1. Welcome to IMBB Abbyramy. :)) It is a primer palette so the colors should actually have a good staying power. Sad it did not turn to to be so great. But primers in so many colors.. think it is a brilliant idea. Very good and detailed review 🙂
