Hope all of you are doing fine and preparing for the upcoming Rakhi festival! I so miss being in India during festival season as nothing can replace the joy of enjoying sweets and getting pampered from brothers and parents on Raksha Bandhan. Wish you all brothers and sisters a very happy and wonderful Rakhi festival! Anyway, I am here to share a shade from Smashbox Always on Matte liquid lipstick collection and it’s called “Baja Bound.” The coral pinkish shade might seem tricky in the bullet, but works fairly well on my skin tone. Read on for more details on Smashbox Baja Bound Always On Liquid Lipstick.

An eight-hour wear, liquid-matte lipstick with a featherweight, comfortable formula that stays put and keeps color looking as fresh and flawless as the first swipe. Perfected on-set in Smashbox’s L.A. photo studio, Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick leaves lips with ultra-lightweight, but bold color. This liquid-matte formula is infused with the lip-smoothing Smashbox Primer Oil complex for suede-soft lip color in an array of gorgeous, highly pigmented shades. The precision tip applicator lines and fills with one swipe of the no-drop reservoir, while Advanced Polymer Technology makes lip color stay put and look fresh and flawless for up to eight hours for smudge-proof, budge-proof, and non-feathering, carefree wear.
My Experience with Smashbox Baja Bound Always On Liquid Lipstick:
This liquid lipstick comes in a transparent, sturdy gloss tube packaging with a twist-over cap attached to a leaf-shaped doe-foot sponge applicator. This lipstick has a synthetic fragrance which is barely noticeable throughout the wear time. Overall, I totally like the sleek, user friendly and travel-friendly concept of this packaging though I am not fan of its leaf-shaped applicator and prefer using normal gloss applicator for smoother finish.
My shade “Baja Bound” is defined as a pink coral shade, which is true to its description and not to confuse with “Blast Off,” which is another bright pink coral in this collection. While the former shade is a brighter cool-toned coral pink shade, “Baja Bound” is a warm-toned and subtle pink tending to be a true coral shade. In fact, this shade imparts a matte finish on the lips while the former gives a bright semi-glossy finish on the lips maintaining a bit of translucency unlike the Blast Off shade. So, we have ideally two coral pink shades to choose from in this collection and I would anytime pick the former one for brighter semi-glossy finish as it brightens up my skin tone overall.
However “Baja Bound” works equally well on my skin tone with face makeup, though it seems tricky for most pale-light skin tone Indian beauties. As I mentioned earlier, the liquid lipstick has a wet, mousse-type of texture which glides and spreads nicely on my dry lips without clinging to dry patches or sinking into lip lines. It might emphasize both dryness and fine lines after an hour of wear time considering that the wet mousse stain dries to a matte finish; I would rather call it comfortable matte finish though! I mean every matte lipstick tends to feel tricky on dry lips hence prepping and scrubbing the lips would enhance the charm of wearing this shade. Moreover, it gives medium to nearly complete color payoff in just 1-2 swipes; I usually swipe it twice for smoothing out the edges. This also implies that it will work well for every gal including beauties with pigmented lips. In fact, it does not aggravate or accentuate dryness on my lips, it sits comfortably on my lips for several hours. I often swipe lip balm and gently dab it off lips prior to applying this lipstick and it works well for my lips.
I am also impressed by its budge-proof, smudge proof finish and 6+ hours of staying power while it easily fades off with heavy oily food meal and might require re-application. However, it slightly transfers to cutlery and cups, but it does not feather. Since the formula is pretty lightweight, I just feel the applicator could have been better as the right beauty tool with this formula can give a perfect smooth, non-patchy finish. I would definitely recommend it to beauties who are interested in sporting true matte coral finish while gals who need a semi-matte bright pinkish coral sheen can opt for “Blast Off”! Considering my liking for brighter pink shades and semi-matte finish, I would prefer the former over this shade.
