Hi everyone,

I am back with a lipstick review! Yes, I am! At least, it isn’t a liquid lipstick! I picked up a few Cream Lipsticks from Smashbox and I will review them for you today. There are a few bright, a few bold and some neutral shades in this range. Let’s get into the review!

My Experience with Smashbox Be Legendary Cream Lipstick – Tabloid:

Packaging: The lipsticks have a square tube packaging – quite reminiscent of the NARS Audacious lipsticks with one distinct difference; it has a colour coded tag at the bottom corresponding to the colour of the lipstick inside! It is so easy to pick the colour that you want in a jiffy! I wish more companies would pay attention to this little detail.

Shade: The shade I am reviewing today is Tabloid which is a “Vibrant Purple Cream.” It is definitely a bright and bold medium purple shade with cool undertones – quite eye-catching! Despite being so cool toned and purple, I feel that the shade is quite easily wearable. I mean, it’s easily wearable if you are into bright shades.

It is a striking shade! It is certainly an attention grabber which also means that you can go low with the eye makeup. I guess I didn’t pay heed to my own advice coz in the #FOTD, my eyes seem to be vying for attention with my lips! But, this is what happens when you have a new lipstick and eyeshadow to test and you put them on together at one time!

Texture: The texture of the Be Legendary lipsticks is lightweight and creamy. It does not collect in the corner of your lips like some extremely creamy ones tend to do. As you can see, the texture in the lip swatch is shiny and glossy – lovely for the pouty lips (or the ageing ones). The texture is neither too thin nor too thick and is of medium consistency. It is definitely a hydrating formula. Your lips will certainly feel comfortable. They are easy to apply; no tugging or pulling.

Since it has a creamy texture, these do transfer easily. However, the transference is more in the initial half hour of application, the post which it settles a bit and transfers much less.

Pigmentation: It is nicely pigmented; semi-opaque in one pass. You can easily build it to the shade in the tube. The colours apply evenly and smoothly; there is no patchiness. The pigment does not sink into the fine lines of the lips.

Lasting Power: As they are creamier, these don’t have the most long lasting formula. The shade Tabloid gives me about 4 to 4.5 hours of wear time. It does leave a delightful cool pink stain which gives you about another hour worth of mileage. Also, when it fades, it fades evenly and does not look patchy.

Will you Recommend/Repurchase Smashbox Be Legendary Cream Lipstick – Tabloid?
I generally don’t like creamy lipsticks but, of late, I have been trying these instead of matte lipsticks. Probably, because all the liquid lipsticks I have are in the matte formula. And, with the winter season in full swing, I am more drawn to creamy, hydrating formulas instead. I think the formula is quite nice and the shade itself is fairly stunning. Since the colour is buildable, it allows you to control the amount of boldness you want to project, even with a shade as bright as Purple. Yes, I do recommend this shade.
