How have you been gals? I went on a short break and so have a lot to share with you all. A lot has happened in these 2 weeks and I feel overwhelmed (with both joy and gloom). Firstly, my sister moved to India and I terribly miss her now; we also lost one friend (who died of illness) and still find it hard to believe that she will no more walk with me in future events 🙁 The happy news is that I had a week-long road trip to Wild Roaring Yellowstone National Park with my family. But the biggest surprise for you all is that my dream of walking on ramp came true! I walked for Bollywood celebrity designer Rohit Verma along with celebrity choreographer Sandeep Soparkar, along with many other known faces of Indian television. I feel my life is shifting back and forth a series of sad and happy events. Anyway, I will soon share my memories on Madam Gupshup, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, let me share this beautiful shade from Smashbox’s latest launch which was my “go-to” shade all throughout the trip. Let’s read more about Smashbox Big Spender Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick!
An eight-hour wear, liquid-matte lipstick with a featherweight, comfortable formula that stays put and keeps color looking as fresh and flawless as the first swipe. Perfected on-set in Smashbox’s L.A. photo studio, Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick leaves lips with ultra-lightweight, but bold color. This liquid-matte formula is infused with the lip-smoothing Smashbox Primer Oil complex for suede-soft lip color in an array of gorgeous, highly-pigmented shades. The precision tip applicator lines and fills with one swipe of the no-drop reservoir, while Advanced Polymer Technology makes lip color stay put and look fresh and flawless for up to eight hours for smudge-proof, budge-proof, and non-feathering, carefree wear.
$24 for 0.13 Fl Oz, excludes shipping and tax.
My Experience with Smashbox Big Spender Always On Liquid Lipstick:
This liquid lipstick comes in a sturdy and transparent plastic tube packaging with a black twist over cap attached to doe-foot sponge tip applicator. It does have a weird smell which is barely noticeable, hence no worries.
The shade “Big Spender” is described as a matte rose shade by Smashbox, which comes up as a true muted mauve rose shade on my light skin tone. I love how it imparts a glow to my face, even in the scorching hot weather. I had packed a handful of lip products on my trip, but considering the hectic schedule (and taking into consideration my skin concerns), I hardly took along any other lipstick than Smashbox Big Spender and Blast Off. I like its semi-wet mousse texture which glides easily on my normal dry lips without emphasizing dry lip patches. It dries quickly to a budge-proof, feather-proof stain, which stays on for several hours.
Considering it has a true matte finish, it will anyway show up on fine lines and lip lines, but it does not highlight them badly. I mean it is a true matte lover’s dream to own such lightweight, comfortably wearing lipstick, which imparts a non-cakey matte finish. Moreover, it provides medium to nearly full coverage in just 1-2 swipes without looking cakey or flaky on the lips. My lips do not feel dry through the wear time though I still feel such formulas work better on well-exfoliated and hydrated lips. I usually apply balm on my lips prior to getting ready and then wipe it off the last minute with a soft cloth to make a smooth base for applying this lipstick. I have worn it in 104F temperature in wilderness and it never looked bad even when my skin was literally burning with prolonged sun exposure.
Oh yes it sits comfortably on my normal dry lips for a good 6+ hours without feathering or looking flaky; it maintains a smooth texture and saturated pigmented finish throughout its wear time. It might come off from the centre of lips while eating oily snacks or food and might need re-application after one heavy oily meal, which is fine with me. Honestly, I have tried many liquid lipsticks before and more or less, I feel they all are similar; though I would give one point extra to this liquid lipstick for its comfortable true matte finish and formula plus long lasting staying power. I would definitely like to explore all the shades from this “Always On” range and highly recommend this lip product to everyone.
Pros of Smashbox Big Spender Always On Liquid Lipstick:
- A bright yet muted rosy mauve shade.
- Lightweight, comfortable matte formula.
- Nearly full colorpay off in 1-2 swipes.
- Imparts a smooth, saturated and non-cakey finish.
- Does not dry out my lips.
- Does not sit on dry patches.
- Stays on for 6+ hours comfortably on my lips.
- Maintains a comfortable matte, smooth finish throughout its wear time.
Cons of Smashbox Big Spender Always On Liquid Lipstick:
- It comes off with oily meals.
- Does show up on lip lines and/or fine lines.
Well, I am really not concerned about the cons at this moment as every matte lip product has its yays and nays. It certainly works better than most matte formulas that I have tried in the past and I can live with a few disappointments.
I will rate it 4.7/5!
