Hope all of you are doing great! Today, I am excited to share this beautiful, newly-launched Smashbox lipstick with you all (I had mentioned it in as Clinique Super City Cushion Compact), I talked in my previous review. We all know liquid lipsticks are so in trend right now that every low and high-end brands are coming up with their own version of liquid lipsticks. The very minute I wondered Smashbox is missing in the market with its version of liquid lipstick, guess what I saw – “Always On Matte” liquid lipsticks 😛 Smashbox is one of my pet brand when it comes to hoarding and repurchasing stuff. I think this new Always On Matte liquid lipstick would be one such collection that I would keep on repurchasing. Read on for more details on Smashbox Always On Blast Off Matte Liquid Lipstick!
$24 for 0.13 Fl Oz, excludes shipping and tax.
An eight-hour wear, liquid-matte lipstick with a featherweight, comfortable formula that stays put and keeps color looking as fresh and flawless as the first swipe. Perfected on-set in Smashbox’s L.A. photo studio, Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick leaves lips with ultra-lightweight, but bold color. This liquid-matte formula is infused with the lip-smoothing Smashbox Primer Oil complex for suede-soft lip color in an array of gorgeous, highly pigmented shades. The precision tip applicator lines and fills with one swipe of the no-drop reservoir, while Advanced Polymer Technology makes lip color stay put and look fresh and flawless for up to eight hours for smudge-proof, budge-proof, and non-feathering, carefree wear.
My Experience with Smashbox Blast Off Always On Liquid Lipstick:
This liquid lipstick comes in a transparent yet sturdy plastic tube packaging with a black twist over cap attached to doe-foot leaf-shaped applicator. It does have a noticeable fragrance which fades quickly post application. Overall, I like its simple yet classy packaging with user friendly and travel-friendly features.
My shade “Blast Off” is described as a coral pink matte shade which is true to its description as it seems to be a perfect blend of coral-pink on my skin. I love how it amplifies my skin without screaming for attention; a perfect summery matte shade to put it this way. It imparts nearly full color payoff to my lips hiding minor pigmentation, maintaining lightweight, smooth finish so far. I do feel the need to layer on because it is a bit of a thin formula which dries into a budge-proof stain in a couple of minutes. I also find it similar to Anastasia Beverly hills matte liquid lipsticks as this lipstick imparts a similar dry matte finish on the lips with almost the same powdery dry feel except the fact that ABH has limited shades of bright red/orange and corals and more of neutral/muted colors. Other than that, I find both ABH and Smashbox pretty similar in formula, finish, texture and staying power.
I like the simple doe-foot applicator of ABH more though. I mean I have tried most of the liquid lipsticks and worked with different types of applicators and somehow I feel that leaf-shaped applicators with hollow centre often result in streaky finish. In fact, I tried using a normal sponge applicator with this formula and I could see clear difference. The finish was more seamless plus I need not apply it back and forth to get an even and saturated finish unlike what I have been doing with this leaf-shaped hollow applicator.
This probably explains the significance of having the right beauty tool regardless of wearing high or low-end makeup products as they make a hell of lot of difference. It means that I am fully satisfied with the finish, texture and staying power of this product as it glides nicely on my normal dry lips forgiving minor dryness. It applies as a liquid lipstick without settling down into lip lines and/or dry patches thereby drying into a matte stain which is transfer proof and budgeproof to a great extent unless we eat oily food. I have worn it several times in these past weeks and it never faded away before 7 hours on my lips (even with full meals as well as light water/tea breaks).
I just find it tricky and a bit drying considering it is a matte lipstick hence beauties with dry and parched lips might need a lip balm prior to application. I have normal dry lips and I do feel the need to lick my lips, but that’s true with every matte lipstick. I did not find this lipstick to emphasize lip lines or dry lips, which is quite impressive. I think that other than the issue with its applicator, I am pretty happy and convinced to get this shade again. I would highly recommend this shade and this lipstick range to every matte lip lover.
