Smashbox Famous Be Legendary Lipstick Review

I am back with a lipstick review! Yes, I am! At least it isn’t a liquid lipstick! I picked up a few of these Smashbox Cream lipsticks, some bright, some bold and some neutral shades. I have already reviewed (Inspiration, Tabloid). Let us get started with the bold and bright one!

Smashbox Famous Be Legendary Lipstick Review

Product Description:
What it is:  A pigment-loaded lipstick that glides on rich, vibrant color in just one swipe.

What it does:  Be Legendary Lipstick saturates your lips with show-stopping color while softening and protecting them with shea butter and vitamins C and E. This lipstick stays color-true in photographs and feels lightweight yet lush on lips.

Suggested Usage:(Coz you might not know how to apply a lipstick *eye roll*)
-Use Punked as a transformer shade to darken and deepen other lipsticks.
-Tap the Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer over cream shades to instantly make them matte.

Packaging:  The lipstick has a square tube packaging, quite reminiscent of the NARS Audacious lipstick with one distinct difference – it has a colour coded tag at the bottom – corresponding to the colour of the lipstick inside! Hallelujah! It is so easy to pick the colour that you want in a jiffy! Wish more Companies would pay attention to this little detail.

My Experience with Smashbox Famous Be Legendary Lipstick:

Color:  The shade “Famous” is described as a “pink neutral cream.” To me, it seems like a soft n*de pinkish beige shade. It is one of those shades which might work for fair to light skin tones very well. For us, girls with medium skin tone, it is quite likely to wash us out unless balanced with a bolder eye look. And conversely, if you are doing a bright or bold eye, this will fit in nicely into the scheme of things.

Texture: The texture of the Be Legendary lipsticks is lightweight. The texture of “Famous” seemed thinner than that of Tabloid and Inspiration. It was still creamy, but despite being creamy, it does not slide around too much. Also, the texture isn’t as glossy as with Tabloid and Inspiration. It does seem to have a natural shine but not overtly so. It is definitely a hydrating formula. Your lips are better for the wear. So, overall a comfortable lipstick to play with. They are easy to apply – no tug or pull.

Since it is a creamy texture, these do transfer easily. However, the transference is more in the initial half hour of application, post which it settles a bit and transfers much less.

Pigmentation: It has decent pigmentation, semi-opaque in one pass. You can easily build it up and it covers the lip pigmentation fairly well. However, I do feel that the pigmentation of my lip lines does seep through with this shade and that’s maybe because the shade is light and n*dish. The colours apply evenly and smoothly – there is no patchiness. The pigment does not sink into the fine lines of the lips.

Lasting Power:  Being creamy in texture, this isn’t the most long-lasting formula. Also, since this shade is anyway quite light – it stays for only about 3.5-4 hours, post which, you will need to re-apply. Also, there is no stain left behind, which is quite obvious, considering the shade itself.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Smashbox Famous Be Legendary Lipstick:

  • A soft pinkish n*de shade.
  • Lightweight, creamy texture.
  • Decent pigmentation, semi opaque in a single swipe.
  • Quite hydrating.
  • Easy to apply from the tube.
  • The lipstick applies smoothly – no tug or pull.
  • Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
  • No feathering or bleeding.
  • Neat packaging with color-coded sticker at the bottom.

Cons of Smashbox Famous Be Legendary Lipstick:

  • Nothing at all.

IMBB Rating:
A definite 3.8/5 product.

The texture of the lipstick is in keeping with the rest of the line. However, being a lighter shade, it does have lesser wear time. I don’t think I can recommend this shade wholeheartedly – even for girls who might want a n*dish shade. At that price point, I would want to compromise. I think, given an option, I would recommend Estee Lauder Envy shade – Intense N*de over this. I do not find the shade or the texture exceptional – both are easily dupable and in terms of quality – one can definitely do better at this price.

    1. After reading that, Im gonna end up using this every day!!

It is a nice shade but i don’t find it too effortless. It needs decent eye makeup to pull it off.
