Smashbox Inspiration Be Legendary Lipstick Review

Today’s review is on another Smashbox Be Legendary Cream Lipstick. Yeah, I finally picked some bullet lipsticks rather than the liquid one!! Let us see how this one performed.

This lipstick has a square tube packaging, quite like NARS Audacious lipsticks with one distinct difference – it has a colour coded tag at the bottom corresponding to the colour of the lipstick inside! So, it is easy to pick the colour that you want in a jiffy! Wish more Companies would pay attention to this little detail which makes a huge difference to the customer experience.

My Experience with Smashbox Inspiration Be Legendary Lipstick:

Color:  The shade that I am reviewing today is “Inspiration.” It is described as a “bright fuchsia pink cream.” It is a medium fuchsia pink with distinct cool blue undertones. It has this gorgeous luminous texture – have a look at the lip swatch.

This shade is not for the faint hearted. It is extremely bold and loud. Ideally, it does not need too much else to make it stand out. Yes, my #FOTD states differently, that’s just because I was testing the shadows while I was testing this lipstick. So, two birds with one stone! Whatever!

Texture: The texture of the lipstick is lightweight – not too thin, not too thick. It’s creamy without being all goopy (I am assuming that is is a real word!). It does not collect in the corners, like some extremely creamy ones can tend to do. The texture, as you can see in the lip swatch, is glossy – lovely for the pouty lips (or the ageing ones). It is definitely a hydrating formula. Your lips are better for the wear. So, overall a comfortable lipstick to play with. It was easy to apply – no tug or pull.

Since it is a creamy texture, these do transfer easily. However, the transference is more in the initial half hour of application, post which it settles a bit and transfers much less.

Pigmentation:  It is nicely pigmented, about semi-opaque in one pass. You can easily build it to the shade in the tube. The colours apply evenly and smoothly – there is no patchiness. The pigment does not sink into the fine lines of the lips.

Lasting Power:  Being creamy in texture, these aren’t the most long lasting formula. The shade “Tabloid.” It gives me about 4.5-5 hours of wear time. It was slightly better than Tabloid maybe because this shade is overall a bit bolder than Tabloid. It leaves a delightful cool pink stain, which gives you about another hour or two, worth of mileage. Also, when it fades, it fades extremely evenly and does not look patchy.

Cons of Smashbox Inspiration Be Legendary Lipstick:

• Nothing at all.

A definite 4.5/5 product.

This is definitely a bold and beautiful shade. The quality of the product is fab, particularly in these winter days when your lips scream for something more hydrating. I quite like this formula, but I won’t rank it as my number 1 choice solely because I prefer lipsticks which have more saturated colours and last longer – like the Estee Lauder Envy line. However, that is most definitely my personal choice. If you prefer glossy and hydrating formulas, then this is a definite winner. And they do have a excellent shade range to chose from – n*des to mid-tone neutrals to brighter and bolder shades.

Yes, I do recommend the colors.
