Considering my love for doing eye makeup, I find a good eye primer to be an investment worth making. Though I rotate between a bunch of them and have no particular favorites, I always am in search for new ones to try. My recent buy and this review will be on the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer.

My Experience with Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer:
Packaging: This shadow primer comes in a simple tube with a doe-foot applicator.
Texture: This primer has a very smooth, creamy consistency. It is neither too thick nor too thin and is very easy to blend out with fingertips. A couple of dabs on the lids is sufficient to cover the entire area from brow bone to the lid.
Pigmentation: This primer has medium coverage. It hides all the pigmentation and visible veins on my lids efficiently hence it does the work of both a concealer and a primer. I love primers like this which also give coverage.
Usage/Results: This primer dries down quickly on the eyes and offers moderate amount of tackiness. I do find using eyeshadows directly on the primer make it very difficult to blend out due to the strong hold this gives hence it is best to set it with a translucent powder or with an eyeshadow close to your skin tone. I do have oily eyelids and I have noticed that this primer also helps control that to some extent. My shadows stay crease-free for the whole day. As a primer, it performs greatly. My eyeshadows show up with full intensity. They remain vibrant throughout the day with little to no fading.
Overall, this is an excellent primer and it is very similar to the Bareminerals 5 in 1 Cream Shadow in terms of texture and performance. I love them both and will recommend this.
Pros of Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer:
- Works as a concealer as well as a primer.
- Gives crease-free eyeshadow all day.
- Little to no fading of eyeshadows.
- Works well even for those with oily lids.
- Not too drying and does not give crusty eyes.
- Does not settle into fine lines.
- Just a little goes a long way.
Cons of Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer:
- Nothing that I can think of. This is an excellent product.
