Soap And Glory Bare Enough Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss Review

By Orianna D.

Hello IMBB’ians!

Who doesn’t love full, luscious lips, right? But not all of us are blessed enough to naturally have them. Now, while there are options like lip injections and those weird gadgets that plump your lips temporarily (but could damage the capillaries in them), not everyone wants to indulge in a risky procedure. The alternative? Lip plumping glosses! The credibility of these glosses is still debatable, but that’s what IMBB is for, right? So, we can know which of these glosses work and which don’t! Today, I will be reviewing a lip plumping gloss by Soap and Glory called Sexy Motherpucker. I love how Soap and Glory has these fun names for all their products!

My Experience with Soap And Glory Bare Enough Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss:

The packaging of the tube is rather simple, compared to the box it comes in. It’s a plain, transparent tube that lets you have a look at the product inside. Comes in handy to know how much of your gloss remains. Other than that, it’s a basic packaging with a black twist on cap with the classic doe foot wand. It is however a big tube, so if you carry a tiny makeup pouch like I do, this might not fit inside.

I’m reviewing the shade “Bare Enough,” which is a subtle pinkish-beige colour. I picked this gloss because I wanted a n*de shade and when I swatched it on my hand, it seemed pigmented enough. All the other colours were too cool-toned pink or too bright for my taste.

The consistency is pretty smooth and buttery. Thankfully, this gloss is not sticky at all, which is one thing I dread about lip glosses. It was comfortable to wear on the lips. The pigmentation showed up pretty sheer on my lips and it was almost like a transparent gloss which I wasn’t a big fan of. It smells like cupcakes though, which I absolutely love.

The staying power is average and it doesn’t last for more than 4 hours. If you have a full meal, the gloss gets completely wiped off. If this wasn’t a plumping gloss, there would be nothing special about this gloss.

Now, let’s talk about whether it really works or not. So, I applied the gloss on my bare lips without any lip balm because I thought using a lip balm might hamper its effectiveness. I waited for 5 minutes, then 15, then 20. After the first few minutes, I felt a tingly sensation on my lips. It wasn’t strong and it didn’t burn but the tingle was definitely prominent. Thankfully, it wasn’t too much or unbearable. After 20 minutes, I decided to check out my lips, but sadly, my lips there wasn’t much difference in my lips.

My lips did feel fuller but they didn’t look any bigger. All that the lip gloss did was to give my lips a healthy glow. Don’t get me wrong, I never expected great results, but I didn’t find even the slightest difference, which was very disappointing. The tingling sensation died down after 10 minutes or so and I left the lip gloss on for at least an hour but I didn’t find any change.

Pros of Soap And Glory Bare Enough Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss:

  • Tingling sensation is amusing.
  • Nice as a clear gloss or for when you don’t want to wear makeup and just want to sport a healthy glow.

Cons of Soap And Glory Bare Enough Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss:

  • Doesn’t stay for long.
  • Doesn’t plump, contrary to what the brand claims.
  • People with sensitive skin may find the tingling sensation uncomfortable.
  • Didn’t work for me at all.

Would I Repurchase Soap And Glory Bare Enough Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss?
The product seems fine as a clear gloss or a n*de gloss but the plumping bit didn’t work for me at all. I wouldn’t repurchase this, I would rather look for a more pigmented n*de gloss.
