My Experience with Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer
I picked up this concealer from Bangkok Airport. I loved the concept of a concealer, corrector and powder all packed in one. There is also a little mirror and a puff that fit the little compact. This concealer is available only in 2 shades – light and medium. I picked up medium because it was the darkest among the two. I feel they could do with more shades for sure. Still I could find a pretty close match for my skin tone.
It is a medium coverage concealer that makes it great for daily wear without looking cakey or heavy. But because it has medium coverage it does not cover up scars completely with just one layer.
Although the pack says to use the peachy shade second and the light shade first, I use it the other way around. I use the corrector first to get rid of any discolouration underneath the eyes and then use the lighter shade of concealer to brighten up the under eye area. Then you set it all with the powder provided in the upper compartment.
It is a very creamy concealer and goes on easily underneath the eyes. Once you set it with powder it does not crease but you HAVE to set it with powder. Unlike some other concealers, this does not set on its own. The powder is finely milled and goes on smoothly. It does a good job at setting the concealer in place.
It does not have a great staying powder. I noticed it disappearing after 5 hours or so. But I am okay with that because if I have to go somewhere for a short while I can totally rely on this. It feels and looks very natural on the under eye area. The only thing is that your under eye area should be well moisturized or else it wouldn’t go seamlessly.
Now this has a big problem with it being photographed. It casts a horrible white undercast on the under eye area while taking photo. Check the pic below and that photographs is taken without flash. In some pics it looked natural and in some pics there was this whitish undercast that totally put me off. For a regular day to day wear this concealer is pretty good but I wouldn’t wear it even for day time events. But that’s such a big con for me. I am taking photos of my makeup all the times and it’d suck all the effort going in vain just because of concealer.
Also the packaging is not up to the mark. One side of the concealer pan has already come off that I need to stick back to avoid the mess. I mean it looks like the pans are fixed with a cheap glue.
It is a decent concealer for everyday wear but then you can find many other concealers that would last longer than this and wouldn’t give you a whitish cast.
Wouldn’t really be high on my recommendation list.
