Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Transparent Review

Soap and Glory, an England-based cosmetics company, is known globally for its high performance products and their clever names. The company sells mostly bath and body products; however, one of their best-selling products is their plumping lip gloss, cheekily titled “Sexy Mother Pucker.” Although the company is just 6 years old, Soap and Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker plumping lip gloss has already gained cult favorite status in the beauty world. This review covers whether the gloss really lives up to its hype and cheeky name.

Product Description:

According to Sephora, this lip gloss promises to “fool your lips into looking and feeling fuller. It features SUPERFILL™ microspheres that explode in volume up to 10X when they absorb moisture, and circulation-enhancing LIPSWELL™ natural plant oil infusion to increase blood flow and make lips look almost instantly lusher.”

Although gimmicky, the name does its job in making this gloss stand out in a sea of lip plumping products. I am reviewing the transparent shade; however, since I almost always wear it with MAC’s Love Peck, the applicator has turned pink!

Sexy Mother Pucker 4

The transparent shade comes in a black plastic tube with minimal art work on it. The tube just features the name of the product in a pink font, but, then again, there’s only so much you can fit on a lip gloss tube. The gloss smells like mint, chocolate and orange all rolled into one and has a very slight sweet taste. It has no glitter or shimmer.

My Experience with Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Transparent:

I first came across this lip gloss almost four years back while getting ready at a friend’s place. I thought it was a dollar-store gloss because of the simple packaging and weird name. I tried it on and immediately rubbed it off. It made my lips tingle like crazy. They felt like they were vibrating. She coaxed me to give it another shot, and I did. This time I was prepared for the tingle and it didn’t feel as bad. My lips looked shiny and fuller, although 10x fuller would be an exaggeration. I kept the gloss that day and have been wearing it ever since (no, not the same one, this doesn’t last that long!).

Sexy Mother Pucker 5

I have to wear about two swipes of this gloss on the upper and lower lip to see an effect. The gloss is VERY sticky and doesn’t glide on very easily. Once it’s on the lips, you start feeling the tingle in about a few seconds, it gets intense for a few minutes and then just feels minty. Since the gloss is thick, it does give the impression of fuller lips. It does a really good job of filling in any lines I have on my lips, which also gives the impression of fuller lips. It makes my lips look super shiny and glossy! This gloss is not non-transferable and does get on glasses and napkins. If I don’t eat or drink anything between applications, this gives me a good 3-4 hours of wear, which is great for a plumping gloss.

Pros of Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Transparent:

  • Makes lips look fuller and fills out lines.
  • Makes lips look super glossy.
  • Lasts really long for a lip gloss.
  • No unnecessary shimmer or glitter.
  • Fairly priced.

Pink Lips

Cons of Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Transparent:

  • Does not apply evenly.
  • The smell isn’t all that pleasant.
  • Doesn’t stay on through eating and drinking.

Bottom Line:

It doesn’t really fulfill the big promises it makes, but does a fair job of making one’s lips look fuller. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a lip plumper. But don’t expect it to look like you just got collagen injections on your lips!

        1. Thanks guys <3
Y'all are up early… I'm off to watch BB live feed and see my Imam "pungi bajao" everyone! I'll sleep well tonight!

  1. The cheeky name really is clever! Lol.. It does work, the effect on your lips shows that. I wish there was a way to make lips look plumper without making them look glossy 🙁

    1. I was thinking the same thing today, Leez. I hate wearing lip gloss in the day time, I think it looks kinda tawdry.
Cinnamon Oil is supposed to work well as a lip plumper and since it absorbs into the skin, it doesn’t them glossy. Haven’t tried it, but it makes perfect sense to me!

    1. @ Sukanya…their marketing team. The clever names are the USP of their brand. Cosmetics market is super competitive and the names give them an edge! 🙂

  2. i had come across this brand last year while browsing the sephora website..and i exploded into laughter when i read the name of this lipgloss!! seriously it’s super creative, n i would love to have at least one gloss just coz i love the name! 😉

  3. How is mint, chocolate and orange rolled into one not pleasant-smelling? 🙁
But hey it actually does what it claims to do, so good product then. Devie, good review!

    1. LOL, the smells isn’t THAT bad, but I didn’t understand why they didn’t just choose one smell! I’d like for it to smell like oranges 🙂
