My weekly grocery shopping trips are very rarely limited to just groceries and I invariably end up picking some beauty and personal care products. Most of the times, it is the attractive packaging that tempts me. Today, I am reviewing one such product that I had picked up only because of its cute packaging – Softlips Pomegranate-Blueberry Cube 5 in 1 Lip Care.

This lip balm comes in two more variants also called Fresh Mint and Vanilla Bean. And, these little cubes in pink, blue and orange almost convinced me to buy all of them. But then, I saw my husband’s “How many lip balms does a woman need?” expression and that’s how it was only the pink one that came home with me. Read on to find out more about the product.

My Experience with Softlips Pomegranate Blueberry Cube 5 in 1 Lip Care:

Packaging: This lip balm comes in a really cute plastic packaging that resembles an ice-cube. The plastic is quite sturdy and not flimsy at all. The packaging is not just adorable, but quite functional too. The lid screws shut and there is no possibility of this getting opened in your bag. The balm itself is in the shape of a spherical dome. The packaging seems inspired by the EOS lip balms which come in a spherical egg shape. But, this cube is much smaller than the EOS sphere and hence much easier to handle. I have a picture to show you a comparison.

Formula: While I do not have chapped lips all year long, I do experience my share of dried lips in the winter months. And a lip balm is, therefore, a staple in my daily grooming routine. The Softlips Pomegranate Blueberry Cube 5 in 1 Lip Care glides smoothly on my lips and I do not need to tug it at all in order to apply even in sub-zero conditions. It does not feel sticky or waxy on the lips. And my lips feel smooth, soft and glossy instantly after application. The formula is quite moisturizing due to the presence of Shea butter in it. My lips have definitely started feeling more hydrated and moisturized after I have started using this lip balm.

Staying Power: The staying power is not all that great and the lip balm stays for around 2-3 hrs before it begins to fade away. But, honestly, I do not mind reapplying.

Flavor/Fragrance: The Pomegranate-Blueberry variant has a sweet, fruity fragrance which is mild and does not linger for too long. The balm feels slightly tingly as soon as you apply it because of the presence of menthol.

SPF: An added plus point of this lip balm is that it has an SPF of 15 to provide you some sun-protection.

To summarize, I picked up this product only because of the packaging and was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a really effective lip care product that has now become my go-to lip balm.

Cons of Softlips Pomegranate Blueberry Cube 5 in 1 Lip Care:

• Contains chemicals.
• Availability in India.
• Some may not find the packaging very handy and would prefer the more traditional stick format. For me personally though, the packaging is a winner.

If you can look past all the chemicals in there, I would surely recommend you to try this product as it is not only very cute looking, but also effective.
